Show Notes
Welcome to the Green Wisdom Health Podcast with Dr. Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now here are your hosts, Dr. Steven and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of the Green Wisdom Health Show. I’m Janet Lewis and I’m Dr. Lewis, and we’re excited that you guys have joined us again. I know it’s been a bit since we’ve been here, got so many things to tell you as usual. And I’m sure you’re really wondering of why this show is called This Broke My Heart. Uh, Dr. Lewis has decided that he would like to go on air and tell his story, which is partially my story too. It just didn’t happen to me, but it could have. Um, I wanted to call this show, This Broke My Heart. Really I wanted to call it My Husband’s an Idiot, but I still love him. But Janet said no on that. That’s not exactly what she said. She prefaced that with heck no. Because your wife’s not an idiot and I didn’t want to be in that title. So. Well, you married me. Okay. Um, well, the point is that, you know, we have so many of you people that, uh, listen to me in spite of my Texas draw, which abhors me, but, uh, I take lots of supplements and I believe in them and we go through all kinds of convoluted inside out to get the right ones at the best price. But I’m pretty bad about just showing up and shooting from the hip. Y ‘all kind of know that. And we’re almost like a mechanic, right? It’s like we’re really great at fixing other people’s cars, but sometimes ignore our own. Yeah. I used to go to court. They pay me big bucks to go testify in court and I wouldn’t study cause I love embarrassing the hell out of insurance companies, attorneys. But anyway, I didn’t target things that I kind of sort of knew I needed to target. And I’m like everybody else. I’m just cheating a little bit when I’m eating that a Hershey bar or ice cream or whatever. And how long had it been since you’ve done your last lab? Four and a half years and you you’ve gone five years. Okay. I’m not, I’m not saying that you did that. I’m just trying to divert the attention off me. But anyway, I screwed around, had a heart attack. So the point is folks that I understand that the world’s gone through some really difficult times and people, you know, the inflation and that includes the supplements to, uh, some people have a tendency to drop out and, you know, there’s, you know, double down and go for it. And, um, anyway, I don’t know how deep you want to get into this heart attack thing. Well, the one, basically we had run, we’ve been extremely stressed, you know, Brandy was our right hand and she’s not been here for quite some time now, even though she still works with us remotely, but not physically in the store, which is a lot of work. And, um, we were under tremendous stress and, you know, and all this things going on in the country’s not really helping it either. And so we just kept taking everything we always knew to take, you know, which was, I took half the store. I mean, it wasn’t like we weren’t taking anything. Well, well, we were taking lots of stuff. Well, uh, we just are joining or we’re partner partnering now with a triple board certified pain management doctor. And because of that, we decided we’d run our lab and see what was going on and see what she thought about our lab. Cause see, you need an authority figure. Um, and so we had run it and it had been about two weeks prior to Dr. Lewis’s heart attack that we had the results back. Both of our labs, we should have been spanked over because they were bad. And if we had run that yearly, we would have caught it in time. But we thought we knew a lot about supplements and you know, if you’re taking this and you know, I was on it once, it had to be good from now on. Well, if we would have seen our lab before that happened, we would have targeted it differently. And we had just started exercising again, walking.
Well, what did you feel exactly? What had, how did you know you were having one? Cause didn’t it happen? You say it happened in the middle of the night. Oh, I don’t know. It’s kind of nonspecific, you know, just, you know, you kind of cough to, there’s a reflex that tries to lower your chance of, you know, put your heart back in rhythm. I heard you had jaw pain, arm pain. I’ve had jaw pain, arm pain for years. And I don’t know if that’s musculoskeletal cause of the stupid stuff I did. The heart attack hurt worse than the, uh, than getting shot and while I was in the hospital and I got up about two o ‘clock. So about three 30 that afternoon, Janet. Hold, hold on. This was in the morning, right? You had this. So what Dr. Lewis is missing the point here of what I’m trying to get him to say, purposely, he decided to come to work the whole day first and just told me he didn’t feel good, but I knew something wasn’t right with him because we have a product in here called liquid capsicum and what it is, it’s for open wounds and we pour it on open wounds to help them heal because it does sear them together. Well, Dr. Lewis started drinking it straight at our house and it’s a vasodilator. And I was like, are you sure you’re supposed to do that? He goes, listen, this makes me feel good. And I thought, this is really weird. So does bourbon, but I didn’t drink it. And I thought he didn’t look right, but of course he had not been, uh, informing me of the stuff that happened the night before. So, you know, I gave him magnesium. We’d always heard that if you opened a capsule of magnesium that and put it in your lip and let it dissolve there, um, that it would stop a heart attack. We were trained that way. We didn’t know if it worked cause we’ve never been around anybody that’s having an actual heart attack, but I was giving them to Dr. Lewis all day long, off and on. And he was drinking this liquid capsicum. And we’re not saying don’t go to the hospital. Don’t have a cardiologist because you didn’t, you need to. Yes. I’m just saying when you’re thinking, Oh, Hey, these supplements don’t work. Yeah, they kind of really did because the story gets really good after this. Um, so anyway, at about three 30, he asked me if I’ll drive him to the emergency room. So we went to the emergency room, the, uh, the doctor there said, put him on some machines and said, are you sure he’s having a heart attack? Cause it’s not really showing. And I said, well he is, I’ve been given a magnesium, so it’s probably slowed it down. He goes, you’ve done what? And I said, magnesium. And he goes, Oh, well then we’re going to need to run a magnesium test because he’s probably overdosed on it. I said, Oh dear Lord. I said, no, he’s not. I said, I’m just trying to save his life. Well, I’m, I’m always trying to be Joe cool and make their life better and their, their boring stress field shift better. I said, no, if you get overdosed magnesium, I’d be pooping in my pants. And, uh, it got worse and worse and worse. And Janet said, aren’t you supposed to give him nitro like in the movies? He said, well, I’ve got procedure. I’ve got to go through and it’s, it’s getting worse and worse and worse. And uh, meanwhile, meanwhile, they, um, finally decide he’s having a heart attack because our magnesium caps comes wore off and, uh, they give him the nitro and morphine. And on that, he still has a 212 over something blood pressure and something 65 or something like that. Something crazy high. And I’m thinking, you know, God told me outside he was going to be fine. So I knew he was that, we’ll just get this done. He’ll, he’ll, he’ll be done. Well, cardiologists came in super nice as we’re going to take you back to surgery. If it all goes well, we’ll go through your wrist. Uh, w you do have a blockage. Um, so he said, we’re going to go and try to put a stent in. And so then they decided that there was a man that had come in ahead of him that was really bad, like near death. He coded. Yeah, he did code. So they took him ahead of Dr. Lewis. So, um, Dr. Lewis had to wait two and a half more hours to get into the surgery room, which made him start having more problems because he says it in a calm tone of voice. If he says it’s a 10, it’s a 10. And I said, have you ever heard this song? Everybody wants to see Jesus, but nobody wants to go now. Right. And so two and a half hours later, anyway, uh, the cardiologist come out and said, you know, we, we saved the other guy. And so they took Dr. Lewis back and they said, we’re on a roll today. Um, he’s going to be fine. He was, Dr. Lewis was back to 35 minutes and they were done with him. They were able to go through the rest. He had one blockage. It was 100 % blocked. He did get a stent and a balloon, which my brother calls party favors. Uh, so, uh, but the rest of the arteries were not blocked at all, but the one that was blocked was to his lung, which was to his brain. So he was not, uh, he wasn’t thinking real clearly for a little while. So, um, yeah, under the second shot of morphine to decrease the pain, I said, well, yeah, no, I’m not going to renew my bowels, even though I’ve never broken them, but yeah, I will.
00:10:05 – 00:15:01
So it’s, it might be goofy. So anyway, it all went well. Somehow it got out all over long view. I do not know how that, that he’d had a heart attack while he was having a heart attack, uh, in our small town here. I know how celebrities must feel on some very small text, phone calls and emails before I even got to the 10 out of a 10 in pain. And you know, anyway, so it, but anyway, people all knew about it. And Dr. Lewis really wasn’t sure if he want, what he wanted to say, because, you know, we run a natural health store. And when you’ve gone through something like that, you’ve, you’ve partially feel like, well, you failed. You’re telling all these people to do this stuff and you failed. Well, please note the supplements didn’t fail. I failed to pay attention to it. And the other part is we’re all human and things are going to happen to you. And sometimes it’s just genetic. And sometimes, you know, you’re, you’re slowing things down or not do anything by speeding something up. So you can’t stop everything, but you can slow it down. So for about two weeks there, he was kind of like, you know, I, I don’t really understand. I took all the stuff. Well, then we went back for his checkup with the cardiologist and, um, the cardiologist when he was in the hospital told him absolutely no, no, and no to any kind of supplement he would ever think about taking, uh, because they wanted him on drugs. And, uh, we’re not saying the drugs are bad. We’re just saying the side effects I cannot live with. Yes. We’re, we’re just like, Oh, this is not good. And then they took things away that made him feel better, like fish oil and turmeric and weird things. Um, but when he got in to have his checkup, they did an EKG on him and said, I don’t know what you did, but you have absolutely no scar tissue to your heart and no permanent damage, which we knew God was not done with the story then because the supplements we had given him stopped it. So the whole moral of the story here is, and why we’re on here today is to tell you, don’t ignore your health. Don’t assume just because you are a patient of ours and have been for many years and are buying the better supplements that you don’t need yearly lab, because it is extremely important. At this point, we’re going to be doing ours every six months for a while to make sure everything is, uh, better. And then we’re also, because of the way this is, uh, what happened, we’ve decided to put our labs on sale and we have made a couple of cardiac panels because of Dr. Lewis. I can thank him for that. Um, but we’re given 10 % off the labs and, and some of you guys don’t listen right away. So I apologize, but hopefully you’re listening right away because this is only good until, um, no, the end of November, 2023, but it’s 10 % off. If you buy it online, you can put it in the code word health, H E A L T H and get yourself checked. We don’t care which panel you pick, but if you have heart problems in your family or suspect you’re having an issue of some sort, pick the cardiac panel. So Dr. Lewis, how would you like to, uh, what people need to know? What do you wish you’d have done different? What wish you to, what do you wish you’d have known? What do you wish you to take in more of? So many times, and again, I never use names because I don’t want everybody in Longview. We had people from Hughes Springs to Houston that knew about this before I was even gone into surgery, which is, you know, uh, I’m glad you care that much, but you know, quieten it down. Anyway, I tell the story about a dear, dear friend of mine that knew she had a high CRP and she ignored it for four years, had a heart attack and she always had money for beer, cigarettes and marijuana, but she never had money for supplements. And she’s had massive problems and died now. Uh, wonderful, wonderful person. And you know, I wasn’t guilty of ignoring it. I was guilty of not looking for it. And, uh, And we thought, you know, cause in Texas this year, uh, it has been extremely hot during the summer. I mean like 106, 110, just unbearable. And we knew he was having trouble, uh, getting air, maybe is a good way to say it. He just looked, uh, fatigued. She said, I looked like a guppy out of water or a carp. I thought maybe this is what getting older looks like. Carps are ugly and she’s calling me a carp. No, no, here, here’s the deal. Uh, there’s a scripture in the Bible. I think it’s out of Proverbs. It says, a wise man foresees danger and takes precautions.
00:15:01 – 00:20:02
Well, apparently I wasn’t wise, but a simpleton or a fool ignores this and suffers the consequences. And that’s out of Proverbs. So, you know, look it up. So the toxic environment, you know, I’ve talked about polluted air raises blood pressure. My blood pressure has always been sky high, always tease. When a mosquito bites me, it blows his butt out. Cause it’s, you know, so, uh, the blood pressure is so high, toxic air affects the heart through the olfactory. Nerve norepinephrine raises and dah, dah, dah, dah, dah. Uh, let’s see. And I’m looking through some research and notes that I’ve made. You know, I’ve read thousands of research articles, uh, environment in flames endothelium. Well, guess what? Janet says our Dyson air purifier, which is over where I sit by the, uh, couch. She said, God, they must be dropping chemtrails on us. Well, see Dyson, which I have this humidifier deal every year, it seems like in December it it’s suddenly due. Like it’s says it’s full, you know, you never know if this things are true, but the, the filter is extremely high. And so I think, well, are they just setting me up for buying another filter every year? And that filter has been running in our house since we moved in there, uh, a year and a half, two years ago. And it had been on low, uh, like, like it was like the particulates in the air was low. Yeah. And because it was interrupting the volume on my TV and I thought, what’s wrong with this thing? It just keeps being higher. And then, and then the, the bearings, I guess started squealing in our air conditioner about two months ago, Dr. Lewis said, I think that’s bearings on there going out. Well, I noticed when that started happening, the Dyson air filter went up to critical levels and I thought, well, that’s probably a fluke and it’s getting close to December. You know, we’re, we’re getting a new filter. Um, but ironically we had to have our inside unit replaced on our air conditioner during all this also. But the minute it happened, the Dyson went back down to no noise at all. So we were in Halen Freon. That’s why I talked to you about the environment and toxic air affects the heart through the olfactory nerve. And you know, here’s the other thing, I’m going to get into some specifics here in a minute, but, and I told my cardiologist, which I very, very much like, I was luck luck, lucked out because hand of God always is on me. He was a good guy, but they said, no, no, no. And heck no, don’t take any homeopathics, nothing, no vitamins, no minerals. And I’m like, I told him, I said, I’m gonna submit to authority cause I came in asking for your help. And I said, I appreciate you saving my life. He said, I didn’t save your life. God did, which made me like him even more. But then it talks about, coenzyme Q 10 is an energy field for your heart statins, deplete coenzyme Q 10. Then you’ve got L carnitine. I love, love, love, love our L carnitine. Uh, it’s, it’s, uh, supplementation of L carnitine after a heart attack increases the survival rate and makes it much less likely that you’ll suffer a second heart attack. Magnesium relaxes arterial walls, reduces blood pressure, makes it easier for the heart to pump blood nice and will lower your triglycerides and the bad kind of the LDLs and most specific, the VLDLs, omega threes. They said, no, no, no. Hey, oh no, don’t take a maga threes. And it’s like, well, we got the good fish oil is three times more absorbable. And uh, and you’ve gone back to adding to it. I know the bottle says one, but if you’re a cardiac risk, you really are to consider doing two of them. Show me the research says one’s good. So dr. Lewis takes two. Okay. There’s a reason for that. And we’ve added because since dr. Lewis’s incident, uh, we’ve added back in our CoQ 10, 300 milligram. And I can tell a difference when I take it. That’s a huge thing for people with heart issues at all or heart problems. And you got NATO kinase, which is a clot buster, other supplements, and I’m taking them all now is vitamin C, curcumin, resveratrol, uh, and different flavanols, flavonoids and polyphenols, uh, which would be Cuse and bromelain. Uh, so that that’s the general. And, and this is, this is out of a book, you know, research. One of the best things you can do is called nitric oxide revive. And it’s like, there’s other reasons you should take it, but it’s a time release to l -arginine doesn’t work on women though, just on men. Right. I mean, for other reasons, you should take it. It does work on heart stuff for women. It decreases the inflammation of the endotheliums, which means less likely to clot. And then you get a better blood flow to areas. Nitric oxide is what makes Viagra work.
00:20:02 – 00:25:01
You’ve heard me say that. Does it work on women? Sometimes when you get other things engorged, it makes things a lot better. So nitric oxide revive has massive cardiovascular circulatory benefits, but it also helps detoxify ammonia, uh, hormone secretion and immune health. Okay. This is a good one and it’s been real popular amongst the people taking it. A coenzyme Q 10 is really, really good. Uh, it plays a major role in energy production, which is ATP. There is one thing we want to say about dr. Lewis is heart attack because I know half of you out there are wondering and we would wonder ourselves. So we’re just going to put it to bed. Did he do a jibby jab? No, he did not. It was not any jibby jab related. They asked me in the hospital, did you get this vaccination? I said, oh, hell no. Uh, I, I, a bourbon shot and they said, you take shingle shot. I said, oh hell no. Bourbon shot. Did you get your flu shot? I said, bourbon shot. Now here’s the thing. Also, you know, I’m trying to be a little bit rough and tough because if I don’t, I’ll cry. He is sensitive to after this. So sometimes I have to talk for him. Yeah. The lady at the hospital, I talked about the major HIPAA noncompliance there. She called me later and she said, uh, how are you doing? Are you having, and it’s real common to have depression after heart attacks and other things. I said, well, I came to you mad as a wet hand, and now I’m crying like a woman at a lifetime movie. So I said, I’m doing fine. Just forget about the HIPAA noncompliance. And I said, you saved my life. Good God, I’m happy. Uh, there’s another thing in Proverbs that says above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity. So I’m sorry, I don’t some days, but you know, you kind of have to, to get over the crying like a woman at a lifetime movie. But the other thing we wanted to mention also, you know, we told you we’re sort of told you we’re going to get more into another podcast about this when we have, uh, the actual steps to do it. But we’re, uh, now because we’re partnered with a triple board certified, uh, MD, uh, she’s also, uh, uh, board of pain medicine and she’s also certified in the Academy of cosmetic surgery. So she’s, um, got lots of certifications. And she’s really easy to talk to. She will put your spirit at peace. Now this only includes five States where she’s licensed. Yeah. We’re going to offer integrated medical and nutrition services in horse, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, and West Virginia. Uh, people that are doing the nutrition and the supplements that we put them on, um, will also be offered if Dr. Lewis sees fit for you, the ability to talk to her about semi -glutide shots, uh, the compounding pharmacies will send it directly in the mail to you because it turns out that semi -glutide shots can actually help reduce your rate of heart attack by up to 20 % and also kidney problems up to 20%. And again, as I’ve said a million times, it depends on what research you read because there’s plenty of research that says, well, if you do this, you decrease your chance of heart attack 50 to 75%, you know, like just taking a good vitamin E most of it’s not, but yeah, there, there’s so many things. And I want you to understand that, you know, this may be a hodgepodge of information. I’m sorry about, you know, getting weepy on you, but you know, the, the fact that you started with us in the first place means that there are hope in your heart that you can change or we can help you change. This is true in our experience, even when the family members are not aware of it, but it helps if you have the family support. So your presence here is a reflection of your hope and believe at some level that you’re capable of change. And I told the guys and I don’t mind dying. I don’t mind seeing Jesus, but today’s not a good day. Cause frankly, I could have checked out. My spirit was right there. And I said, you know, the last 24, 25 years with Janet’s been kind of a lot of fun and I think I’m good for another 25 years. And that’s the reason I chose to live. It was that close and you know, yeah, now I’m fine. I’m fine. Yeah. Y ‘all quit worrying about me. My friends are still calling and texting. I said, but it hurt way, way worse than getting shot. It kind of surprised me.
00:25:02 – 00:30:01
But uh, you know, two days later I was back in the office. Yeah. People would go, I won’t tell anybody, Dr. Lewis. And I thought, you know, you know, BS stands for bacon sandwich and belief systems. There was a, there was a game we used to play when we were kid called rumors or I think it was rumors or something where you told something and by the time it got back to somebody else, Oh my God, you know, they, they might as well been on fire. Uh, so we thought we’d just come on here and tell, let him tell you it himself. You know, he is fine, but I believe in my heart without a doubt that he went through this experience because it came into play right at the time we integrated with this medical doctor. And you know, she’s easy to talk to y ‘all, y ‘all people that will qualify to see her. You’ll love her. But Dr. Lewis, because of the way he lost his dad under medical care or his perception of it because he was a young kid, has never been a great fan of it. And there is a time and a place for all of it, not just part of it. You know that they need to save your life. You need to be down there. You don’t need to wait. And we’ve seen several people decide to wait. And it’s, that’s not a great outcome. So the whole, I think, I think maybe Dr. Lewis’s journey was about him marrying the medical stuff to the nutrition so that you guys get a better outcome. And I know he didn’t think he was going to live, but God told me when it happened, he would. So. I didn’t say that. I said I had a choice. Oh yeah, he did have a choice, but I knew his choice he was going to make before he chose. Janet’s always known more about my opinion than I know. Y ‘all know that. So, you know, I’m sorry, this, this podcast didn’t turn out exactly the way we wanted. We had all kinds of signs and symptoms and a lot of other research, but, uh, who knows? Was it the Freon? Was it this? Was it that? Was it because I was eating too much candy because during the stress, you know, my drug of choice is sugar. Caffeine is number one. Alcohol is a distant third, but I’ve cut the sugar out and most of the alcohol. So eight days after the heart attack, I said, Hey baby, can I, do you think it’d be okay if I had a drink? She said, well, you’re eight days older than you would have been. So yeah, go ahead and celebrate. But I I’ve never drank much far as volume never, but you know, folks, it, it is, it is so much, we saw a bill that’s not mine yet, but this lady had a bill for a stamp, $158 ,000. Do you know what 20 % of that is? It’s a almost $32 ,000. You can buy a whole lot of supplements from years and years and years and years and years for that. So folks, let’s make a wise choice so that while we’re here, we can be as healthy as we should be as healthy as we can be. Uh, you know, trouble is in East Texas, most, most of us rednecks take better care of our truck than we do the temple of the Holy Spirit. So maybe it’s time we kind of changed our priorities and I’ll be the first to say I should have. Hey, but you know, the supplements did work too. So it wasn’t like, you weren’t doing anything and we kind of knew how to slow it down for a while. So, you know, that magnesium under the lip does really work. Why are the rest of the coronary arteries a hundred percent, uh, clear? The supplements didn’t fail. I failed. And you know, it’s my responsibility and I admit it reluctantly. However, since everybody in their damn dog knows it, I got a text yesterday from Midland, Texas. Well, good God, that’s 500 miles away saying, well, I was told in confidence, it’s like, yeah, that’s 17 steps past. Anyway, here, here’s the thing. Yes, I’ll talk about it now. Yes. I want you to, uh, take good, good care. I love you guys that are very consistent with what you do and thank God there’s a lot of them in the labs have been improved, but maybe we should get a successful. So, you know, I’m going to go ahead to the inspirational part that Janet usually asked me about, and then she can follow up with whatever she wants success in your life or in your health requires people. So choose wisely, whether that’s choosing Janet and me, or whether it’s choosing a spouse that’s supportive, uh, the atmosphere you’re in will create the health that you have or the health that you want. Don’t be careful. Be bold. Don’t be stupid. Like I was, you know, be wise. I missed the wise part. Are you a viewer or a doer? Good question. Your thought life controls the rest of your life, what you think and what you speak. And that’s why I said, keep corrupt talk from your lips. That’s negative talk. And I’m preaching to me. So, you know, y ‘all be blessed. We will help you in whatever way. Take advantage of the 10 % off. Cause believe it or not, that really is a big deal.
00:30:01 – 00:32:44
And, uh, we can do more, uh, to get you healthier, to increase your energy level, uh, make your life happier because you feel better physically. It spills over in your mental and your physical, your spiritual life. And deep down inside, you do know whether or not you feel at your peak or not. I knew I’d wasn’t at my peak and I thought it’ll pass. It’ll pass. It’ll be fine. My, my lab numbers actually looked worse than Dr. Lewis’s and whenever the heart attack happened for him and that machine was going off in the background of his room after his surgery, I called our, one of our practice management, uh, nutritionist and talked to him and he said, you had the heart attack, didn’t you? I said, wasn’t me. It was Dr. Lewis. So, you know, in your gut, you know, you’re not right. So if you’ve not done your lab recently, this is a great opportunity to do that. It’s coming up toward the end of the year. A lot of you guys have health savings account money you have not used. So it’d be a good opportunity to get yourself back in peak condition. And we appreciate you listening to our show. Again, the code word is health, H E A L T H. It’s all lowercase letters per the coupon. It is good until the end of November and it is just on the lab. And, uh, if you’ve not done our lab, go to greenwisdomehealth .com, fill out the health survey. It’ll direct you or should direct you to the correct panel. And if you don’t like that, Dr. Lewis is really good about calling people and talking to them as well. And Dr. Lewis has one final thing to say. You know, you were born to live big, to love to create and to really express the miracle that you are. And I’ve got one thing to say about miracles. Miracles are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about nature. So take that action and let’s create a miracle. And we’ll be here next time on the Green Wisdom Health Show. Once again, our show has come to an end, but your hope and your health is only beginning. If you or a loved one are in need of a different outcome and are waiting for a step and go to our website and fill out the health survey, please don’t keep us a secret. If you know someone that could benefit from this podcast, please share this show with your friends and family. You’re only one step away from a life worth living.

Products Mentioned in Today’s Show:
Nitric Oxide Revive represents an extended-release nitric oxide precursor. Scientists now refer to nitric oxide (NO) as the “foundation” of cardiovascular health. This tiny molecule is a vasodilator responsible for controlling blood flow to the entire body, which may help support healthy blood flow pressure and promote the health of the endothelium—the inside of blood vessels. With age comes diminished NO levels; that’s why since 1998, when three scientists won the Nobel Prize for their discovery of NO, researchers have been working to harness its heart-healthy activity. Today, with the application of extended-release technology, that activity has been realized with Nitric Oxide Revive.
Testo Essentials Max features two safe, clinically-tested, standardized, and patented ingredients designed to support vitality and general physical and mental well-being in men and women. Numerous studies have demonstrated that PrimaVie® shilajit and LJ100®Eurycoma longifolia support healthy androgen biosynthesis, which includes modulating the influence of sex hormone-binding globulin.†

SHOW NOTES:
Speaker 0 (00:00:01) – Welcome to the Green Wisdom Health Podcast with Dr. Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now here are your hosts, Dr. Steven and Janet Lewis.
Janet Lewis (00:00:18) – Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of the Green Wisdom Health Show. I’m Janet Lewis.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:00:24) – And I’m Dr. Lewis.
Janet Lewis (00:00:25) – And we are excited that you are here today listening to our testosterone podcast, because who doesn’t need testosterone? Apparently a lot of people are lacking testosterone, so that’s why Dr. Lewis wrote a book about it. But today, we are going to educate men and women about how to balance it naturally. I know people are used to getting patches and things, but we have a little bit different approach, don’t we, Dr. Lewis?
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:00:54) – Yeah. I’ve never thought that, uh, disease was a lack of a drug. And, you know, everybody’s got an opinion, but, uh, success leaves clues, but so does failure.
Janet Lewis (00:01:07) – Well, um, you know, I think there’s maybe some hormonal issues that go on that people don’t even realize or could be a testosterone issue, and they’re different for men and women. Uh, you know, usually you hear men saying, I need testosterone used to them getting pellets, or,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:01:25) – That started with Tim Allen going two the two men.
Janet Lewis (00:01:29) – Yeah. But why, why is that so rampant nowadays that the testosterone is low? I, I, you know, maybe that’s a better place to start.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:01:39) – You know, there, there are a lot of things, and, and it, it’s multifaceted. Well, our food is terrible. They’re genetically modified. And I know there’s some people say that doesn’t matter. Yes, it does. We’ve been to Europe and we’ve been to China. It does make a difference. The other thing is we have so many, uh, different things in our environment, 85,000 to a hundred thousand different chemicals that act like estrogen. And that’s why, and you’ve heard me say it many times before, little girls develop breast and menstrual cycle years before they’re supposed to. Little boys are getting more and more feminine. And if you hadn’t noticed that, you ain’t paying attention. And that’s why there’s, uh, an epidemic of, uh, low testosterone, only more low T clinics popping up and, you know, they’re getting, uh, whether it’s pellets or shots or whatever. But there, there are some real issues here, and that’s why it’s very important to, uh, increase your nutrient intake so that your body can ramp up.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:02:37) – Uh, the detoxification processes. We’ve, we’ve talked about that in the weight loss about, well, it is not just losing fat cells. You’ve got to deal with the, uh, toxins that are in there. And, and you have to be careful. And that’s why we talk about discerning spirit, because some people say, oh, I read this and, and it’s mercury, it’s mercury poisoning. I said, what are you gonna do about the other 85,000 things? And it, and it could be mercury poisoning if you’re taking, uh, high fructose corns syrup up, which is in all kinds of things hidden, you get a lot of mercury just from that. So, but there, there are other things to deal with. So why it, it’s because all these estrogen mimicking chemicals or estrogens, uh, are offsetting your testosterone as it offsets progesterone in a woman also,
Janet Lewis (00:03:26) – You know, and I think these, uh, clinics have been around long enough now that most people just think that’s a normal thing to do, is, um, to get those pellets or, or shots, because a lot of people are doing it and there’s a lot of clinics, but there are some side effects to that, right?
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:03:45) – Yep. Yeah. I tell people are, are, they come in and say, well, this isn’t working anymore. And, you know, I look at their lab and say, well, Jesus, your, your liver’s overwhelmed. And you know, I’m a chiropractor. I, I look at things from a musculoskeletal standpoint, but if you do the nutrients to fix your musculoskeletal system, you’d be surprised what else shows up to get well. And, and it’s like, I know I had this idea that there is a God, I know that’s kind of unusual for some people. Uh, and so we tell people, when your heart’s overwhelmed, we will help you fill it with peace. And then the other thing is, you know, I’m a little bit blunt and I tell people, stop eating crap. And they say, well, no, I eat good. And no you don’t. Crap stands for carbonated drinks, refined sugars, artificial foods, and processed foods. There. I’ve got a zillion patients and I absolutely love. But then you’ve got Alan up in Maine, and he sends me stuff from time to time. He says, well, I haul goldfish, but I don’t eat ’em. . And Alan, you bring joy to my heart. You really do. And a lot of other people too. But, uh, here’s a guy that hauls him in his truck, but he’s smart enough not to eat him.
Janet Lewis (00:05:05) – Well, that’s funny. I didn’t know that’s what he did. So that’s,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:05:09) – Oh, at one time, at least , .
Janet Lewis (00:05:12) – But you know, I, I think we’ve all been so conditioned to, we will just take a drug or put, put something in our body to replace what’s, what seems to be missing. Didn’t God give us all that we needed there?
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:05:25) – Well, I think so, but it’s not in our food is the problem. And, and you know, I understand some of the things I say are controversial, and sometimes I say it in a manner that’s not always polite. I tell people, you want me to shoot straight or sugar coat it? If you want sugar coated, you need to get some donuts. And here’s the thing I want you to think about. Depression is not an s sri deficiency. Heart disease is not a statin deficiency. Diabetes is not a metformin deficiency. A d d and a ADHD is not an Adderall deficiency. Insomnia is not an ambient deficiency, and obesity is not an ozempic deficiency. Okay, that’s blunt, isn’t it? Sorry, I’m, I’m gonna put a package of sugarcoated donuts on my desk just to have people think, uh, or question. But I want you to think about these things and, and always use your discerning spirit because this is Dr. Lewis’s opinion. But as I said earlier, success leaves clues pay attention to who’s successful.
Janet Lewis (00:06:28) – Well, and I think one thing, um, you know, low testosterone symptoms in male are, you know, obviously low libido and erectile dysfunction, but
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:06:38) – Which is rampant.
Janet Lewis (00:06:40) – But did you know when you start? Well, you probably do if you’re doing it. If when you start taking something, something to replace testosterone, aren’t your testicle shrink up too, Dr. Lewis? Yeah. Isn’t that where it’s made and they don’t need, they’re not needed anymore. Yeah.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:06:58) – Uh, it’s called lad cells. And that’s from 40 years ago. I took the test . Anyway. Yes, they do, but they, they shrink. If you get your testosterone shots and or your pellets, and the testicles say, well, we’ve got plenty of, uh, testosterone, we’ll just, uh, kind of hang around, pun intended, uh,
Janet Lewis (00:07:18) – And men don’t really like that. Also kind of makes ’em have some bald patches on the back of their head. I’ve noticed that too. It’s like their hair starts leaving a little bit faster and it should have
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:07:28) – Got, you know, and Janet says, I have here in the hospital, I didn’t hear her say that. I thought she said, ball patches. So nevermind , you know, our, our goal and, and I’m in a real smart lic mood and people say, well, what else is new? You know, our goal is to die, but die as healthy as we can, as late as we can in a much younger body.
Janet Lewis (00:07:51) – Yeah. We wanna look good with hair, right?
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:07:54) – ? Yeah. I asked Janet, is my hair thinning? She says, oh, heck no. Quit worrying about it.
Janet Lewis (00:07:59) – And I’m not, and I’m not picking on them, man. I’m just telling you that these are some things that are caused by, uh, synthetic. Um, well,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:08:08) – But you, you gotta get started. You, you’ve got to change your oil before the engine catches on. Fire starts smoking. Usually by the time people seek help from me, it’s like, why didn’t you do what I told you two 15 years ago? Now it’s too late.
Janet Lewis (00:08:23) – Yeah. Other signs of, uh, low testosterone in men are hot flashes. Yeah. You mean like women, they get hot flashes as
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:08:32) – Well. It’s power surge baby. Mm. .
Janet Lewis (00:08:35) – I didn’t know if we got to share that little fun thing. Yeah.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:08:38) – Well, maybe I’ll put that in the wrong column in the book. I don’t know. ,
Janet Lewis (00:08:44) – Uh, how about depression? Depression is low. Testosterone,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:08:50) – It can be a lot of things. And that’s another thing I I really plan to write a book about stress, anxiety, and depression. Uh, because it’s really rampant. And here, here’s, I made a note here. This was in 2010, so it’s a while back, uh, 45% of the workers surveyed were happy at their jobs. That means 55% hate it. And that those are the people that say, I’m retired and I’m happy. And it’s like, I can’t retire because I love what I do. Every year, the threshold of unhappiness sinks lower and lower and lower. And 50 years ago, the mean onset age of depression was at 29.5 years of age. Now that’s pretty Dad come young, that’s 50 years ago. Today, the onset, the mean onset of depression is at 14.5. So young teenagers are depressed at a much, much greater rate. Well, does that correspond with the lowering of testosterone? You know, 50 years ago, or since 50 years ago, our sperm count has gone down by 50%. Our, our our testosterone’s gone way, way, way down. So I think there’s a obvious correlation, and I don’t think that’s everything in the equation, but it’s, to me, pretty obvious that’s a big, big part of it.
Janet Lewis (00:10:15) – So, um, and they also gain weight, correct. And body fat is that because their testosterone is low? And when that low their metabolism slows down? , you know,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:10:24) – I just sucked in my stomach when she said that
Janet Lewis (00:10:27) – She’s asking a question.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:10:30) – Uh, that’s part of it. Yeah. Because, you know, we’ve got a weight loss program and, and we’ve had, most people have had really, really good success, except the ones that say, well, I went to here and got this ice cream treat, and oh, well, I had pizza to celebrate and, and set ’em back three weeks. Uh, yes, yes, yes. Absolutely. I I you’ve got to do 95% good. You, you can’t do well, I only cheat once a day with a bagel or with, you know, wheat’s the worst thing you can put in your body. I’d rather you drink beer cause it’s barley and hops. And I’m not suggesting you do that.
Janet Lewis (00:11:09) – And you made a nutrient based eating, uh, book. I mean, the book’s based on testosterone performance. Correct. And it’s nutrient based to help, to help build testosterone.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:11:20) – Well, yeah, there’s the key, you know, and I’ll tell you, our foods are very nutrient, uh, deficient, but most of our food is fake food. And you, if you eat the recipes in the book, people say, oh my God, I feel better mentally. Oh my God, I feel better physically. Oh my God, I have energy all of a sudden. Oh my God, my wife thinks I’m better looking. I said, that’s cause you’re not grouchy, which is one of the symptoms of low testosterone and you get irritable.
Janet Lewis (00:11:48) – Hmm. Does that go for a woman as as well? They get irritable.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:11:52) – Uh, if a man’s smart, he would never say .
Janet Lewis (00:11:56) – Uh, okay, well, we’re not done with men here.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:11:59) – So, so men, if your wife ask you, here’s, here’s Dr. Lewis’s answer, life is so much easier if you’re drunk. I’m just teasing . What,
Janet Lewis (00:12:09) – What I always tell men when they ask about low testosterone, I tell ’em, well, do you still have the endurance you used to have? Like, you wanna get up and do something? Or is your whole goal for the day is to sit in the re in the rocking chair or the recliner with the remote and change the channels. And that’s your activity is pushing the buttons go
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:12:28) – From bed to, uh, the recliner to take a nap. You know, it, think about this. This is, this is aism. Have you ever thought that humans are the only animal on earth that needs to be taught what to eat or what foods to eat to keep themselves healthy? And that’s because things have been bastardized. Oh, well that’s a tough word, isn’t it? We have been conditioned in a bad way to eat incorrectly. A normal diet is not what a normal diet was when I was a kid. And not that it was necessarily good then, but it was way, way, way better.
Janet Lewis (00:13:07) – Are you talking about cooking at home or the food in general? The normal diet?
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:13:13) – Yes. Yes. Mm-hmm. , well, you know, highly processed foods are full of, eh, don’t get me into the, the three letter agencies that say it’s okay not to put in, uh, a warnings about these hydrogenated oils that are inflammatory. No wonder things are inflamed, which has to do with the weight gain. It has to do with lowering of testosterone. And, and so yeah, if you eat out, you’re eating all these processed foods, and if you’re eating in, you need to make sure that you’re cooking better. And that, and that’s what the book’s about is learning to eat better. And we don’t put in what you shouldn’t eat. It’s just glaringly omitted and what you should eat rather than what you shouldn’t.
Janet Lewis (00:13:59) – So if they start eating correctly or eating nutrient based eating, that’s not a diet really. It’s nutrient based eating to, to replace the things that are low with testosterone. Right? It’s the foods that would give you those vitamins and minerals, I guess.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:14:15) – Yeah. The, the, the basics for that. And, you know, you’ve got to unlearn some of these stupid things that society has been conditioned to think. You know, if you tell a lot long enough, loud enough, people begin to believe it. Apparently people didn’t learn that with Hitler in World War ii, but, you know, just to unlearn, cholesterol is a very, very powerful antioxidant. Cholesterol heals inflammation, but that’s why it’s plaing. You gotta lower the inflammation. Cholesterol heals arterial damage. Well, you need to lower the arterial inflammation in the first place. Cholesterol’s needed for hormones. Ah, testosterone. Those of you that’s doing something stupid. Oh no, that’s a wrong word. Doing something to lower your cholesterol. Guess what? It can’t make, you can’t make testosterone. Mm-hmm. Cholesterols needed to produce serotonin. That’s why people that lower their cholesterol artificially serotonin’s one of the happy hormones that makes you feel happy and the peace of God.
Janet Lewis (00:15:17) – That’s interesting. They’d give you medications that would help lower those things.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:15:21) – It’s a 30 to $50 billion, uh, a year business. It’s all about the money, isn’t it, honey?
Janet Lewis (00:15:28) – I don’t know. It’s almost like they don’t want births or something. I,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:15:32) – I just want y’all to think, folks, you don’t have to believe what I say, but if you think about it and you’re halfway have a little bit of common sense, you’ll know that I’m
Janet Lewis (00:15:41) – Discernment. Mm-hmm.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:15:42) – , oh my God. Let’s get biblical,
Janet Lewis (00:15:45) – Uh, enlarged male breast tissue
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:15:50) – .
Janet Lewis (00:15:51) – That happens to be one of my favorite subjects.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:15:54) – I’m gonna let you tell that story. But, you know, fat cells produce estrogen if, if, and even in men. And the more fat you have, it’s like, well, you’re producing estrogen. Why you’re, you’re lowering your testosterone. So Janet has a really good story about male breast, .
Janet Lewis (00:16:13) – Um, so I happened to be at a area where they were serving drinks and went up to it and I was,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:16:23) – She sugarcoating this and ask the,
Janet Lewis (00:16:27) – The bartender wanted to know if he could get me a light beer. And I said, oh no. I said, you don’t drink light beer, do you? And he said, oh yeah, you know, he said, that’s, that’s the most popular beer on tap. And I said, you do know that that creates estrogen because of the estro estrogen mimics and light beer,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:16:52) – The way they filter it Yes. Puts more plastics in it.
Janet Lewis (00:16:55) – It’s, it’s worse than dark beer. And he goes, oh, dark beer’s not good. I said, well, you’re gonna get man breast from it. Which
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:17:03) – He looked down and grabbed his breast .
Janet Lewis (00:17:07) – And I said, you don’t want your son, cuz I know he had a son. I said, you don’t want him knowing that you need a bra, do you? And he said, again,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:17:15) – He, he brought his breast up close and he
Janet Lewis (00:17:18) – Goes, well, what do you drink? And I, and I said, well, not light beer. I said, if you’re gonna do it, the darker the better cuz it has a less estrogen mimickers in it
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:17:28) – And it more nutrients.
Janet Lewis (00:17:30) – And it was probably six months later, I came across him again. And as soon as I walked up to him, he goes, I quit light beer. I don’t drink it anymore. He goes, after that story you told, he said, I can’t do it. And I said, well,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:17:44) – Out of thousands of customers he remembered Jan. And I’m sure it was just about the beautiful smile. So
Janet Lewis (00:17:49) – That was one of the best things Bud Light could have done, is get everybody to quit drinking that beer. Cause now they’ll have less estrogen . And if her boobs starts shrinking, I mean, if they’re, if you’re, if a man’s breast are large enough that they need a bra, there may be something they’re having this estrogen mimicking. Yeah.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:18:08) – So,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:18:09) – And you know, the reason we do this is because life gets way more precious when you figure out there’s less of it to waste. And somebody told me, he said, Dr. Lewis, you’re on the short end of the stick. I said, what are you talking about? He said, well, you’ve kind of wasted most of your life. I said, I’ve lived most of my life, but I sure as heck hadn’t wasted it. We’re having fun and we’re blessing other people. And that’s the key to happiness is, you know, give it to somebody else and it comes back multiplied.
Janet Lewis (00:18:37) – And you wonder why that doesn’t work on women, though if they drink light beer, why don’t their breasts get bigger? Their whole body gets
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:18:44) – Bigger. Maybe they do. So here’s the thing to a woman, don’t let any man who drinks white claw raise his voice at you. You talk to him, woman to woman. . . Okay, sorry, . I’m
Janet Lewis (00:18:59) – Gonna go pick on women for a while.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:19:00) – That was funny. We’ve
Janet Lewis (00:19:01) – Probably done enough
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:19:03) – damage,
Janet Lewis (00:19:05) – Low testosterone symptoms in women. And all the men are like, oh yes, please fix her. It’s gonna just raise her testosterone. She’s going to want sex again. And the women always shake their head at me while he’s not looking and go, no, no,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:19:20) – I just want a good night’s sleep. Yeah, I know.
Janet Lewis (00:19:22) – That’s exactly right. So there’s other things, women that you need testosterone for. Uh, one of ’em is actually depression. Just like men. They actually, with low testosterone, you, they get very depressed. Uh, fatigue. You’re more tired because your testosterone’s too low.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:19:42) – If she’s fatigued, man, you need to get your butt up there and wash dishes. That’s the sexiest pose you’ll ever make after you’re married. Wash dishes.
Janet Lewis (00:19:49) – And don’t grab ’em from behind, you know, whatever that picture is.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:19:52) – . Yeah. You know what men do? The woman, nevermind . Sorry, I digress. Just wash
Janet Lewis (00:19:57) – The dishes. Let us sit.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:20:02) – Oh. Oh, I’m having too much fun. I know.
Janet Lewis (00:20:05) – Muscle weakness. That means they’re, I guess they’re not as strong as they need to be because they’re losing, losing muscle mass because
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:20:11) – Test men. Men and women. Yeah, absolutely.
Janet Lewis (00:20:14) – Women can actually get thinning hair. They always think it’s their thyroid. Sometimes it’s not.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:20:20) – It can be thyroid. That’s right. It could be poor digestion, poor protein utilization. But you know, low testosterone can do it.
Janet Lewis (00:20:27) – Which is what, when all the women say, well, which lab test should I get? Just make sure it includes thyroid. Well, that’s always in our comprehensive panel. I said, but you need the other hormones of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, d h e eight. No, I don’t need any of that. Uh, yeah, you do.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:20:45) – If you need what you needed, you know, why are you here?
Janet Lewis (00:20:47) – Right. It’s, it’s not just thyroid. Believe me. Difficulty concentrating can be a low testosterone,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:20:55) – What’d you say?
Janet Lewis (00:20:57) – I don’t know.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:20:57) – .
Janet Lewis (00:20:59) – And, uh, actually reduced vaginal lubrication is a, is a low testosterone issue also. And or progesterone can be progesterone as well.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:21:10) – And it can be estrogen and you know, or, you know, estrogen has to be conjugated in the liver. You know, it can get to be, there’s good estrogen and bad estrogen, so you need to pay attention to that and make sure there’s good liver function conjugation, good probiotics to take care of that so it doesn’t get unconjugated in your smaller intestine reabsorbed and, uh, potentially cause cancer.
Janet Lewis (00:21:33) – And we’re gonna talk about a few of the lab tests that are different than what you’re used to having, um, from your doctor. But first I wanted Dr. Lewis to talk about a product that men and women can both take that helps increase their testosterone. And we actually had a man that was doing pellets that tried the new, our new Testo Essentials Max to see what it did in, in relation to his pellets. And he said it actually gave him longer stamina. He noticed that the,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:22:08) – We’re talking about at work, I’m sure.
Janet Lewis (00:22:09) – Yes. Work, work .
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:22:12) – Oh, you believe that,
Janet Lewis (00:22:13) – Right. . But he said he, he could tell he’s actually something natural helped better than the pellets for him. So, um, could you tell us what Tesla Essentials Max is? Why you like it so much?
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:22:27) – Well, I like it, but uh, , it
Janet Lewis (00:22:29) – Gives me a lot of energy.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:22:31) – Yeah. Well, let me, let me digress and tell another story. There’s this guy that comes in and, and he, we grew up in the same town, although he’s like four years older than me, which makes him in his seventies. And he says, oh my God, that costs too much. I said, it’s cheaper than dinner in a movie. Shut up and take it. And, and again, I’ve known this guy all my life and I love him dearly. And, uh, he comes back and, and tells us things that, you know, Jim, you shouldn’t be talking like that in front of Janet, uh, about all of his girlfriends and going into the gory tmi. Too many details. Teo Essentials maxes. Oh, like, oh my God, it’s got something in it called Shiloh. Yeah, I had to look that up so I could pronounce it correctly. But it’s uh, it’s, it’s kind of an, a biomass from the Himalayan Mountains. It’s a, a naturally occurring mineral rich, phyto complex, uh, basically fulvic acid. And, uh,
Janet Lewis (00:23:29) – He is really . There’s no, the, the sound didn’t cut out. He’s looking for his next sentence. That’s been
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:23:36) – Interesting. I’m trying to be polite. Uh, it, it helps with, uh,
Janet Lewis (00:23:41) – And he’s red. You can’t see him. I’m, he
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:23:47) – It
Janet Lewis (00:23:47) – Helps with what
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:23:49) – Yes, . Yeah, it does.
Janet Lewis (00:23:53) – You can tell part of a story on someone else.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:23:58) – Well, you kind of danced around your bar story too. .
Janet Lewis (00:24:03) – I’m just saying that we had a, a gentleman that started taking this and his wife told us, doc, there are things I ain’t seen in years on him. So he,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:24:15) – He’s waking up in the morning with things I hadn’t seen in years. And I said, send me chocolates to say thank you. Sense.
Janet Lewis (00:24:23) – Go ahead with your ingredients.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:24:25) – Uh, well, you know, the, the, it helps with testosterone levels and it’s adaptogenic. So it helps you with stress to help, uh, adapt. It’s an antioxidant, it’s a cytokine balancing. And cytokine storm is one of the things that contributes to cancer. Uh, and other things. It blocks towel proteins. That means you’re not going to build those things up in your brain and have as much dementia, Alzheimer’s, uh, tendency. Uh, it is rumor to have a role in supporting cognition. And I know I need that genetically. Uh, we, we, my brother Dr. James Lewis and I helped put off, uh, dementia in my mother over 25 years. And then Janet came on the scene and my mother do anything for Janet and she didn’t get to, she had dementia in her early to mid sixties and she, it didn’t really kick her butt till about 88 to 92. And it’s because she took a lot of, uh, really, really good supplements to support her brain health. And the shallow sheet helps with that. And then it’s got something called, uh, your ucom, long glia Just Men Remember the word long? It’s a Malaysian gen sing and it’s a tonic and adaptogen helps support libido, energy, sports performance. Well, you could call that a sport, couldn’t you? ? How,
Janet Lewis (00:25:49) – How many of these do you take per day, sir?
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:25:52) – Oh, the dosages two. But you know, if your wife ain’t watching
Janet Lewis (00:25:58) – Oh yeah, I know. They’re all like more better. I’ve been there for a day and I’m, I’m like, you’re, it’s made for a month. Supply it too. And,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:26:05) – And, and, and people say it’s expensive. I said, well, it’s cheaper than pellets in your butt. .
Janet Lewis (00:26:11) – Well, you might as well while you’re on a roll, talk about our other product that also
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:26:18) –
Janet Lewis (00:26:18) – Mostly men. Like,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:26:19) – Well, I’m on a roll because I have the stamina to pull it off. Uhhuh . Oh, Tim Allen too, man. Uh, oh, let me, let me digress a little bit while I’m having fun.
Janet Lewis (00:26:30) – I didn’t know we weren’t .
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:26:33) – Uh, you know, the way testosterone is made is through it. It starts out in the brain. The hypothalamus in the brain then goes through the pituitary gland. Uh, so when they say it’s all in your head, oh, nevermind. Let’s go to nitric oxide. Revive. This is good, good, good, good, good. When I take it regular, it lowers my blood pressure because it helps with, uh, uh, vascularity or, or the flexibility of the arteries and veins. So if it’s more flexible and it opens up and relaxes more, you know, bigger pipe means lower pressure. So that one reason why it, uh, helps promote the health of the endothelial lining, which is the inside of the blood vessels. And, you know, there was a Nobel Prize for the discovery of nitric oxide. And guys, if you wanna know about nitric oxide, that’s why Viagra works. Okay. So it’s got, excuse me, it’s got the, the time released L Arginine, which
Janet Lewis (00:27:39) – Is, which is the difference. Usually they’re not time released. Right? Yeah.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:27:42) – Cause L Arginine will be in and out in about, uh, 20, 30 minutes. But if it’s time released, Jenny Sugar head on that,
Janet Lewis (00:27:48) – All his wording today is very interesting.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:27:51) – Well, I don’t know what your cognition is, honey. How do you, how do you interpret that? But it’s time. So it lasts more than 20 or 30 minutes. Uh, the effect of it, um, it, it’s really, really good. You know, as I said, helps with the endothelial, uh, uh, health of the blood vessel. It inhibits the smooth muscle contraction. Cause your arteries and veins really have muscles in ’em. So that increases blood flow and increases. Oh, increased blood flow means increased nutrient uptake and glucose utilization in the muscle, especially during exercise. Now, Janet’s brother is a oh oh oh macho man and he loves this stuff cause he likes to work out and it’s like, yeah, I just get tired. I don’t work out. But I’m very, very active. He loves this stuff cause
Janet Lewis (00:28:42) – He’s, I think he got all my testosterone, I think he got his and mine, but
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:28:48) – , yeah, something like that. So the nitric oxide revive just goes hand in hand with the Testo Essentials max, which really and truly I think everybody should be on D H E A, we’re not really gonna go there. Cause D H E A is the precursor to not just testosterone, but uh, it has responsibilities to help fix about 150 different, uh, things in the brain, in the body. So, you know, this is a pretty well put together package. So when I said it starts in the head hypothalamus pituitary gland, then it goes to the testicles, then it goes into the latic cells, and then it creates testosterone, which has a biofeedback mechanism to go back to the hypothalamus or the brain. So it’s a, it’s a pretty comprehensive and complex thing, but you don’t have to worry about it. Just throw these things in, you know, ask God to bless it and your body’s gonna use it for good. It really will.
Janet Lewis (00:29:45) – We were going to go into a little more detail about the different lab panels, but we’ve had so much fun explaining testosterone. Uh,
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:29:52) – I thought we was, I thought we was talking about dark beer
Janet Lewis (00:29:55) – . We don’t really have time to go into ’em individually, but just know that, um, there’s more to it than what your doctor is running for testosterone levels. They generally just run testosterone. Um, there is something called free, right, Dr. Lewis, that’s very important to that. Yeah.
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:30:15) – You know, how much do you have total doesn’t mean much unless you have a, an adequate amount of free, which goes into the sex hormone binding globulin. You don’t need to understand the process, you just need to know that Janet and I do.
Janet Lewis (00:30:29) – But there’s ex there’s also other test and we’re specifically talking about our testosterone Performance lab panel. You can see all the test markers on our website@greenwisdomhealth.com. But it’s got things like sex hormone binding globulin, follicular stimulating hormone, which is fs h lutin hormones. Um, and then it also has a prostate PSA on there. So, um, there’s different parts of the, the male profile that you probably have never seen on lab. So that’s, um, we’re pretty excited about that. It goes along with Dr. Lewis’s nutrient based eating program. And then we also now offer a 90 day bootcamp to kickstart you right into all this working way faster than you just trying to do it on your own. We have health coaching now available as well with it. Um, you get a copy of Dr. Lewis’s book and then, um, we hold your hand. It’s a white glove treatment for 90 days so you can get the results that you’re looking for. But Dr. Lewis, sadly, we are at the end of this show. So would you like to leave us with any other words than what you’ve already left us with
Dr. Stephen Lewis (00:31:43) – , something that’s not smart. LIC is what I heard. , I think from now on we’re going to put a warning on our podcast and say that our podcast on this, you know, may cause you to have original thoughts and to develop and have questioning your programmed and, and indoctrinated thinking. You know, because I want you to think so that you can be healthier. And the thing about it is we have a lot of fun, maybe too much. Some people say, but think about this for just a minute. If speaking kindly to plants help them grow, can you imagine what speaking kindly to other humans could do?
Janet Lewis (00:32:22) – And that rap star show you guys, if you don’t know where to start, go to our website, green wisdom health.com, fill out the health survey. Natural Solutions to Remedy Pain
00:00:01 – 00:05:00
Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Steven and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of the green wisdom health show. I’m Janet Lewis. And I’m doctor Lewis. And we are here to bring you an exciting show about pain. Doesn’t everybody like pain? Actually, we’re going to bring you to show about natural solutions to remedy pain. Now that sounds better, doesn’t it? Anyway, we are very excited and blessed to be able to bring you some new options to our office. We have all been working diligently on per the past few months. I know you’ve not heard a podcast from us for a while. So we are back, we have been busy, doctor Lewis, the most busy, but it takes all of us to put it together. Doctor Lewis has been in the middle of creating a bunch of books and one of them is on pain. So doctor Lewis, would you like to tell us a little bit about what you’ve been doing? Well, I used to recommend so many different books and in January says Stephen quit recommending those Rachel book. It’s like, I don’t want to write my book. So anyway, we had to develop my answer to that was yes, ma’am. Whatever you want, ma’am. But we want you to know it’s really an honor and responsibility for when you come to us for a so called natural solution to common ailments. And I get in a lot of controversy by saying, well, your body’s made by God, and it knows what to do. It just needs the tools to work with. So we have developed a what I would call a very ingenious program, but then that would sound like I’m bragging on myself and really and truly Janet’s name should be on this book more than me. But we’re going to talk a lot about what you should do. And you know, as a chiropractor, I started out with musculoskeletal conditions with all my patients and they would say, and I’d say, well, you need this supplement you need that supplement. So your body can, you know, it’s going to decrease the inflammatory cytokines, et cetera, et cetera, and some of them say, but I like tacos, and it’s like, yeah, well, you need to do something different or people say, well, I have fibromyalgia, it’s like, well, I can teach you to eat differently. So this is we have programs now that we’re getting some phenomenal success with because it teaches you how to eat and it’s not a book about what not to eat. It’s about what a and we make it simple where it’s you have the grocery list. It’s easy to prepare. And they’re actually super delicious. You feel healthy after you eat these things. So we’ve got a lot to say, sorry, I only had 30 minutes to say it. I was going to say, what is food have to do with pain? Everything. Just asking. Well, if you’re in chronic pain and you’ve tried all these things, including chiropractic care, physical therapy massage acupuncture stretching over the counter, pain relief medicine. Supplements it didn’t work and you have to be careful because there’s a huge difference in quality there. If you try to diet, it’s like, not the right one. If you’re trying medication, steroid injections and some of my patients that they’d go for back surgery and they said, well, that $100,000 back surgery didn’t work. And I said, well, you’ve never done anything for what’s causing the inflammation in the first place. So that’s what food has to do with it. So if you’re eating incorrectly and then you’re just taking over the counter medications to cover it up, you’re never going to really fix it, right? And there’s plenty of research that says, you know, if you take these over the counter NSAIDs, so to speak, you’re actually speeding up the joint degeneration. And pain’s not necessarily all from joints. There’s muscle pain, nerve pain, joint pain, et cetera, et cetera, lack of neurotransmitter pain, the neurotransmitters, is fancy way of saying the happy hormones. And that’s what I address very specifically is how to eat correctly which foods are high in this nutrient that nutrient, which can help you create neurotransmitters, which can help you, oh, where’s the highest level of tyrosine so that can help with thyroid conversion because when we do lab work about three out of four people out there have a thyroid issue. And we do have a new pain panel now. So people that have been following this forever, we really do appreciate you. We know there’s been a lot of changes, but we’ve made changes to lab also. We still have those labs that we had, but we also have specific labs based on doctor Lewis’s new books.
00:05:01 – 00:10:02
So we’re going to go through different ones, but our first one is about pain. So the pain lab has over 60 plus biomarkers in it. He developed it based on the different things in the body so that we could see, I guess, in a blood based level. Different angles to see I tell people, well, if I’ll roads lead to Rome, you know we’re going to Rome, let’s Mike Rome, a happy fun place, but you have to feel good to have all that kind of fun. And we’ve been honored to have so many people that’s done our program before we have a YouTube video that’s coming from Kara up in Indiana. She’s an absolute doll. And she’ll tell you about weight loss and decrease the pain. And then we have one from Vicky down sugarland, down around Houston. She’s a sweetheart. And we have others that have given us video reviews and I invite you to go to YouTube and listen to some of these. So what we’ve done, we’ve come up with our pain panel, and then doctor Lewis takes it and analyzes it and figures out what’s the very best plan for you. Based on the lab, we can now and I know you guys have been waiting for this and we’re really excited about it. We could make personalized packs for you. You don’t have to buy bottles any longer. You can still buy bottles, but we have them individualized for you based on the lab and their packs and their two packs a day. Their morning in the evening or daily. However you do it, but it’s twice a day. You take the recommended supplements that doctor Lewis puts in these personalized packs for you. And since it’s so convenient, even I’m taking three times more supplements than I used to because I didn’t have to graze with this bottle of that bottle. And oh my God, I feel good, Janet says, you know, you’re way too young and energetic for me and it’s like, well, I’m not getting a younger woman because the music begins to really stink when you get younger than what Janet is. But the point is that these packs make it so easy, so convenient. You feel kind of sort of obligated to know what other I’ve taken in the morning when I need to take the afternoon. And you’re getting more down and I’m telling you, your body, I know it’s designed by God, but it needs something to work with. You need nutrients that are not in our food and you’ve heard me talk about that many, many times, and we just saw a thing this morning on television that said it’s getting worse. The lack of nutrients in the food. So basically, we’ve been trying this out for a few months on some different patients and some different programs and seeing how they do with the packs because we don’t want to put anything out there until we know and we see results and we see what’s working and what’s not. So basically I can tell you there’s a lot of men that take a lot of things the right way and bottles. But in general, our man patients don’t like opening bottles and taking out pills every day. Most of them have really good wives that do it for them. I’ve heard. But if these are convenient enough to just grab twice a day, they are more apt to stick with it like doctor Lewis said they are. And I can tell you from the men we’ve had doing the packages with us. That is the one thing they say. They say, I’m not always right, but I take my pills twice a day and they’re doing it now for like three months straight, so I’m thinking, well this is pretty good, pretty good change for people because that’s what’s happened in the past is like, we’ll give people a program a lab program. They’re excited. They get a month or maybe two months of the supplements and then they kind of fall off because it is a lot of work to be healthy. Well, you have to change habits and that’s the hard part is not succumbing to your fear and doubt and going back into the same thing that got you in the bad situation. So I asked people many times two questions. Number one, are you a teachable spirit? Number two, are you willing to give up the thing that got you in this bad situation in the first place? But these books are not about giving up. It’s about what to do instead of what to give up. And so it’s more encouraging and more positive. Right. The other part of the package is doctor Liz’s book. He has a pain book, but their recipes and their easy recipes are made in under 30 minutes or less. The food is inexpensive. There is weekly shopping list in it. Well, relatively considered the times in society. We’re expensive, but it’s the least expensive. You don’t have to buy a specialty foods is what we’re trying to say. That’s not Caviar. And it’s not about it’s not about a diet. It’s about nutrient based eating. So it’s based on what’s wrong on your lab.
00:10:02 – 00:15:01
The whole goal is that you take less supplements down the road because you’ve learned to change how you eat. And I think to get the nutrients out of your food. Right, I think you’ll have to agree we don’t really know how to eat. So that’s what we’re trying to teach. Well, how to eat as much different than it was when I was a kid. No, no, I’m super, super young, but back when I was a kid, they wouldn’t let you have but one starch per meal which now we call them carbohydrates. So we teach you things like, well, if you have a problem with your thyroid hormone and you need iodine, which helps benefit TSH production, while you find out the top whole food sources is card cranberries and seaweed if it’s tyrosine for TSH production, it’s beef pork and salmon. And now if you’re talking about cortisol and who doesn’t have a cortisol problem, it goes super, super high, because you’re stressed and you can’t shut your brain down and not. And then it finally fatigues, and it goes downhill big time well. You need vitamin B three, which you don’t hear much about, which is about cortisol production and energy. You get that mostly from tuna chicken and pork chops. B 5, B 5 has been called by one of my favorite preachers that has done the video review. He said, it’s the piece of God in the bottle. That helps with cortisol production, energy, and that’s from shiitake mushroom, salmon, and avocado. And you know, we teach you these things. And it’s a pretty relatively easy to read and read book. But more than that, it’s easy to understand. And the other part of it is that we also have a certified health coach. We actually have several health coaches that are working with us now. We have a whole team of people that are helping us. So the redneck word is concierge nutrition team. Oh, great. Is that right? We never heard that in these Texas. I don’t know. If that’s right. Basically, you just take pictures of your food and you send it to our health coach team and they help you figure out what you could change, what’s best for you because you know some people can eat some kinds of foods and that bothers them and some don’t and you don’t ever know until you get into it, but the coach is there to help you through all of that. They see what you’re taking or what you’re eating, what symptoms you’re having because of what you’re eating, how to change what you’re having, and the good thing with the programs are three month programs as you move along through the program, they supplements can get changed monthly. They come in 30 day supplies. But if the coach feels like, hey, you know, you’re not doing well on this program. We need to change it over to one of the other books that doctor Lewis has is the gut protocol or the thyroid protocol. Right. You can change those products as you go so that you get the best results. So we’re pretty excited about that. Those of you that are in pain and pain almost always goes with stress anxiety and depression and can you imagine? That is interesting. That pain goes with stress, anxiety and depression. Or maybe stress anxiety and depression cause pain. It can go either direction. You never think about that. Can you imagine for a minute? I want you to really, really think about this. Can you imagine for a minute you’re on the program for three weeks in you call me crying? It’s first time in my life. I felt like I’ve been hard is the first time in my life. I’ve gotten up and have energy and I look forward to going to my job or seeing my husband or interacting with my kid because my kids need my time. This is after we’re hearing things like this after three weeks and course brings tears to my eyes because they’re crying and I’m pretty sensitive. Janice says I’m the female and the relationship. I’m very sensitive, but this is Mike and a huge difference in people’s lives and we’re just, again, we had to play with it and experiment with it and we can not sell anything that we don’t own in our heart. The other part we’re making and I’ve still I’m in the process of putting those on the website now. I have people that go, okay, well, I don’t want to have health coaching. I don’t want to have a lab draw it. I don’t like being poked with needles. Because we do have a few of those. I don’t really like it either, but it is a lot more accurate because it gives it personalized. But some people just want to buy the products that are in the pack for pain. You’re offering that as well, correct? You can do that because there’s a certain percentage of society that are just self starters. And I’m one of those. Yeah, yeah, yeah, give me a book. And I’ll do it myself. But then there’s a larger segment of society that needs the hand holding, so to speak. You’ve heard Janet and past podcasts.
00:15:02 – 00:20:07
Doctor Lewis, don’t want to do any hand holding it’s like, well, it’s not that I want to, but I’m too dad gum busy as it is. And instead of retiring, we decided to stick with it because we’re changing lives. And you know, you get an email from, for example, care back in Indiana and she makes me cry every time she writes me a letter and talks about how much she loves Janet and what she’s done and how much we’ve helped her. And then we have our local people. And it’s like, it’s very humbling. And it’s very, that’s why we’re hanging around and doing this instead of retiring. Right. So my daughter has done the one for white in which was a huge deal because she needed the help because she wasn’t the self starter. She always knew, I mean, I mean, look how long we’ve been doing this. Oh, you want to say how long we’ve been doing this. Maybe 20 years. I guess now, I’ll do a nutrition, doctor. But you’re only 30. I know. I’m just talking about you doing it. Not me. Not me specifically. But she’s been watching us do this all of our lives, but she never was one into just opening bottles appeals and taking things. Well, when she found out, we had this hormone weight loss program. She asked me if she could do it and that started new year’s New Year’s Eve is actually when she told me that we’ve been working with her now. It’s going on her fourth month, I guess. And she’s dropping white. She has energy. She said, mom, I feel really good. And she talked to our health coaches. They helped her through some rough patches, some things that just come up weird. You know, when people start taking supplements, of course, they always want to go, oh, it’s a supplement. That’s what’s caused me to have this or that. If it’s figuring out it’s not from God, so if it’s bearing down, that’s why our health coaches can help you through that by holding your hand by making sure that you feel like it’s all right or maybe you need to change this or that. And our daughter’s a brand new girl and I won’t tell you that her significant other is living a healthier relationship because of it. But he would make, he would make all the recipes in the book and what was funny is he really didn’t he wasn’t trying to lose weight. He was just trying to help. He didn’t need to. Yeah, he was just trying to help her and he loves to cook. So he was making, they would make these meals for the week because people are going, oh, this has to be done every night. I have to cook every night. What they did is they made them up for the week, and they put them in the fridge, and they partitioned them, and they looked like little school lunches. And he would actually make me and doctor Lewis a little lunch to come by and we’d come pick it up and take it home and I was like, this stuff is really good. But we’d say we only won’t have as much because that’s another thing. Once you get your gut right, you start wanting less than you did before. So we eat half as much as we used to. Yeah, so. And feel full. Yeah, so but there’s some things that, you know, I guess people don’t even associate that has got to do with pain. Maybe they’re so used to living with it like restless leg syndrome. A lot of people have restless leg syndrome, depression, and anxiety. Like he said, the fatigue and sleep issues. Yeah, digestive disorders and, you know, well, what does this have to do with migraines? Everything. Neck pain, back pain. And we’ll tie it together so that you understand. You know, that was always funny because, you know, I started, you know, I’m a chiropractor, I treat musculoskeletal conditions, it’s like, well, why are you dealing with my insulin resistance metabolic syndrome? I say because that creates and inflammatory cytokines. And it causes your muscle pine, your joint stiffness. That’s causing your headaches. And if you do this and this and this, your migraines could very easily not only go away, but not come back, or at least not as often or not as severe. And that’s really, really common. You know, and there’s hormone imbalances that are associated with pain also, like thyroid, cortisol, and they just don’t really think about it being a pain related symptom, but it is insulin, DHEA, testosterone, which doctor Lewis has a new testosterone book too, by the way. Estrogen and progesterone. And it’s funny, we were testing all of those on our comprehensive plus the mailer female hormones. We were doing that years and years and years before this book came along before the system came along. So we were kind of really sort of ahead of the curve. Well, I got tired of him telling everybody, go read this book. Go check out this book. So I just, doctor Liz, please write your own book. So now we’ve got a complete system. So we’re very excited about having the whole thing put together instead of just, you know, try to do it yourself, because so many people ask if they could eat different things.
00:20:08 – 00:25:02
If we had a nutritionist that went with this, we never had that. So we’ve decided to just put this in to apply, we also have the regular way. I mean, we’re not through doing the regular way also. If you want to do the things like you used to do and do the regular lab and buy the bottles, that’s great too. We just led great success there. That way too. It’s not one size fits all. It’s what is best for you individually. And you may have a different program or a different approach than your spouse, even. We just, we just want you to have the best results, whatever that is for your personality. We want to offer different ways that you can achieve those things. If you’re don’t want to talk to us, don’t want to meet us, just won’t listen to us, we’ll buy stuff, great. That’s there, too. That’s why we’re doing just the packs by themselves with the books, or the company, the book. The whole thing is that you can piecemeal it the way you want or have the full concierge service, however it works for you, but so another way of saying it is, you know, you’re in the driver’s seat of your life and your health, and you can point your lap down any road, but we want to help you get there as quickly and as easily as you want and which way you want to travel, getting your health back, getting your mental motivation, getting your physical health by getting your spiritual health back because if you have a problem in one, you’re going to have a problem in the others because they all tied together. So you can make this change. As fast or slow as you want. But we’re here to make it better. And so you don’t waste time going down dead ends like we talked about from the start. And honestly, if you’re getting off of some of this over the counter pain relief medicine, you’ve had back surgeries or you’ve had injections. You’re going to have a little bit of a rough time trying to switch over to get well and get healthy because the body’s been so used to being in that state. That you get weird things that come up from it. That’s why we hired help. That’s right. And they’re incredibly educated. And that’s right. That’s what I was going to say. That’s why you really need the help to get through some of that because you think it’s okay. And then something comes along and it’s like, I don’t know what’s causing it. I don’t know what to do. And that’s why the health coach lets you do the, you can message them any time and they will answer it, some of them lighter than others. Maybe not at midnight, but we have people trying to eat snack food and stuff like that. And they’re like, I don’t know what to eat, and they’ll text our health coach and they get help, and they’re like, well, if you’ve got to eat at night, then try this. I even had the one guy that was doing the weight loss program. And he said, you know, I don’t get up in the middle of the night now and go get something out of the fridge. He said, I always got up in the middle of the night and got something out of the fridge. She goes, something happened. And I don’t want it. And I was like, yeah, the nutrition kicked in and you don’t want it anymore. I’m not bleeding that last grain is freezer burned in the freezer because I haven’t touched it in months, and I mean that literally. I want to talk to maybe a little bit different segment to the population. We talked about briefly the neurotransmitter imbalance and how it has to deal with pain. How many of you are depressed? Even if you don’t tell people that and you’re always on the edge of stress or you’re full of anxiety, yeah, okay, we’ve created a stress field nation or society, but you can take different avenues to decrease that. So if you’re always on that age, and these neurotransmitters are tiny chemical messages, messengers, some inhibit and some excite. And you have to have those balanced. Serotonin, for example, that’s what some people call the piece of God. Dopamine, if you’re missing at your usually some sort of addict, trying to get that response. Alcoholics or narcotics or gambling or even sex addicts are usually low on dopamine. Then you’ve got glutamate, gaba, which stands for gamma aminobutyric acid, this really good norepinephrine and epinephrine. Once you balance these things, oh my God, you get happy and I’ve had, I’ve had specially women, they’ll say, my husband’s nice to me. I’ve never had him be nice to me. He gave me 12 compliments last month. I thought, well, maybe you’re more receptive to maybe your age will live with oh, I can’t say that. Balance in serotonin and these other ones. Yeah, while you’re talking about that, I wanted you to talk about easy relax.
00:25:03 – 00:30:06
Because for several reasons, it’s been reformulated. We’ve always had easy relax. This formulation was put together differently based on what doctor Lewis is reading here. So would you tell them why you changed it? How this helps with pain, maybe. Yeah, we’ve had once sweet lady that was kind of slightly upset because the other one worked real well and it’s like, I understand. And she’s a sweetheart, but then we had another guy that had the inquiry about, well, it’s not doesn’t have this and it’s an easy relax we have now. God, it’s the vitamins minerals and amino acids for number one, first generation mood support. And in the right amount, the ratios are very, very important. What this does is it enhances the synthesis or the making of these chemical messages that supports calmness, healthy mood, better sleep, and to calm down that jittery nervous system. You know, it helps with methylation. You’ve heard me in the past, talk about methylation. Well, if you’re not methylene, and you’re not getting all the bad things out of your body and there’s about a 100,000 chemicals that we are involved with every day, which are not good. So you have to have methylation to get rid of some of these bad things that come into our bodies. And that has to do with production of serotonin and gaba for the most part. Then there’s magnesium magnesium, those of you that have headaches musculoskeletal pain, joint pain. We’re all low in magnesium, even our government says the best you can do out of your diet, it’s 40% of what you need every day. And while this is a specialized magnesium, it’s an Albion tracks glycinate key light that means you get up to 20 times better absorption. Magnesium magnesium and serotonin are the two things I can take when I feel a migraine coming on. I get the visual migraines where I can’t see to read and can’t see to drive. I’m take the magnesium and serotonin. Or I just pop an easy relaxing 30 minutes. I’m good to go. It’s gone. Then it’s got the vitamin C, which supports enzyme activity. Of copper. Gaba, 5 HTP, which creates that serotonin. I talked about then it has terrain terrains and amino acids that, oh my God, it’s neuro protective. So basically you put all this together to that goes with the pain protocol. The other one was a really, really good product, but this one, for what we’re doing, we can’t hardly keep it on the shelf. That tells you anything. Yeah, I have one guy. I had one guy 5 bottles of it at a time the other day. So it’s done. It has showed itself to be very good so far. In one personal but being the next day or two and say, oh God, I want one for my spouse. Oh, I’ve got to have one for my college age kid this stressed. And the other thing I wanted you to talk about, which believe it or not, gut health has got to do with pain, and so we developed another new product called GI soothe. Because it helps the inflammatory process and the gut. And it really does work well. For people with constipation because stress, people won’t go to the bathroom. So I don’t know anything about that. But doctor Lewis can tell you all about it. I’ve ever seen. And there’s books written about the gut brain connection. There’s people that’s won the Nobel Prize for understanding the gut microbiome and what that has to do with neurotransmitters. It has everything to do with that. It’s got all sorts of things in it that soothe and calm the gut that takes those leaky gut, you know, wide gaps and begins to bring them back closer to where it should be. And decreases the inflammatory cytokines helps you rebuild the villi, which create the surface area. And it’s got all kinds of other things and it just too much for me to mention, but zinc carnosine, and that’s a very specific type of zinc, which is pretty much known to enhance the mucosal integrity of the stomach and beyond, but it’s shown in vivo animal models and clinical trials that it pretty much, I can’t say it kills bad bacteria. I can’t say that, but read the studies. Slippery on prune powder, marshmallow, which is mucilage containing ingredient, which is smooth and smooth, smooth move can kind of deal.
00:30:07 – 00:34:35
Chamomile cat’s claw cat’s claw is something you don’t see a lot. It’s very incredibly anti inflammatory because it comes out of Central and South America. So it’s not as popular here, but we might sure that it helps. Okra, believe it or not, it’s not just good for you and gumbo. We have a little Cajun influence here. An acetyl glucosamine coarse in which is a really strange and incredibly powerful antioxidant and then glutamine, which helps build the lining of the gut. Anyway, it’s good, good, good, good. And when I have a belly ache, which nowadays is pretty rare. General, give me a couple of those. I’ll swallow in 30 minutes. Oh man, I’m good to go. And when your gut feels good, your brain feels good. When that happens, and it begins to increase the detoxification of all these things that your body is dealing with. Oh, guess what? The pain of your muscles can go away for you fibromyalgia type patients. For you arthritic patients that have joint pain, it can go away for those of you that have pain because of stress anxiety and depression. Oh my God, the gut connection is there and it gets better and better and better. You’re living in a wondrous body, but it just needs a little help in order to decrease that. And I tell people, you can glorify God if you’re sick, but it’s a whole heck of a lot easier if you feel good. And we’re going to give you a little help to get started. With our new pain panel lab, which we’ve not done in a long time and you probably won’t see it again for a very long time. But for the whole month of May. And starting now, if you listen to the podcast early, we are offering 10% off on the pain lab panel. And this is my 2023. If you listen to it in 2024, you missed the boat. Yeah, you need to listen faster. But May of 2023, if you will put in the coupon box, the word pain, PAIN, a lower case letters, it will take 10% off of the pain panel relief lab. So take advantage of that, that’s our way of trying to reach out to you to get you started to give you a life worth living. And sadly, we have come to the end of our show, but we promise we won’t be strangers long, we are going to start our podcast back. And you’ll be hearing from us more often and like I said, I really appreciate that you guys have been waiting to hear from us. We hear a lot of feedback that you miss it. So, but we just had to make sure all this worked really great before we started putting it out here. And we wanted to see some results with it. So we’re pleased with what we’re seeing. So we’re offering it to you now. So doctor Lewis, do you have any what wait a minute, you do need to go to our website, green wisdom, health dot com, fill out our health survey if you don’t know which lab panel you need that will help make a decision. The real thing, the spirit of self help is kind of the root of all genuine growth, but we help you with the self help. So it’s not just we made the decision to get back into the podcast, so thank you for your feedback. So we are accountable for that. And one other thing I want to say is tears and sweat or salty. But they render a different result. Tears will get you sympathy, sweat will get you changed. Let us help you with that. And we hope you have a very blessed week. Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with doctor Steven and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Steven and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to this week’s show. We are very excited for our next presentation of what we’ve been up to, doctor Lewis. You want to tell them what we’ve been up to? Yeah, I hear from quite a few of my patients that we’re going dark are going silent because we haven’t been putting out podcasts. Well, we’re going to introduce you to our hormone balancing and weight loss book. And I’d like to say thank you for your patience. Thank you for your loyalty. Thank you for your trust because we’ve been really, really busy making reformulations to some things so that they can work better or where one nude reformulation could take the place of two products. So the patients that have experienced this already are very, very happy and excited and I think you’ll find this weight loss book much different than any other dot book on the market because our approach is different. And if you’re wondering where you can find this, but this is the first I believe for now that he’s working on. We only have the one out. Well, you know, it takes a lot of effort for Janet to keep me off the rabbit trails and keep me focused. So he has to keep writing different books till he comes up with what he likes. So my first one is about thyroid and hormones and weight loss and all of those kind of things nutrient based eating, which is probably something you’ve not heard of before. If you like looking at the book, there’s many recipes in the back. It is available right now on our page of our website at green wisdom health dot com toward the bottom. There’s an online ebook. Some people prefer not to read. We hear that too. So doctor Lewis has completed the audio version of it, which we are delighted to share with you today. So doctor Lewis, anything else you’d like to add in before we let him hear the audio version. Yeah, buckle up your seat belt and notice where the notches are because if you follow this book, you’re going to have to type up if you’re not just because if you will follow the program, you will lose weight and then you’ll start feeling more energetic and be the best person that you can possibly be. Not only for yourself, but for your family. So without further ado, here is doctor Lewis. This hormone weight loss book. Hello, everyone. My name is doctor Steven Lewis. I’m a chiropractor, and today we’re going to be reviewing one of my favorite topics and functional medicine. Hormone imbalances and nutrient deficiencies as they relate to weight loss. I’ve worked with hundreds of patients over the years in their struggles to lose weight to boost energy to improve how they feel in their own bodies and who doesn’t need that. And unfortunately, many times these patients suffered from severe hormone imbalances and nutrient deficiencies which usually went undetected in their journey to better health. So over the next half hour or so, we’re going to explore which hormones are directly associated with weight gain and weight loss, the specific nutrients needed to naturally balance these hormones, the foods that are abundant with these nutrients. And then lastly, how to get started in balancing hormones and losing weight. But first, I want to go over the various weight loss programs you might have experimented with in some of the symptoms of hormone imbalances. In trying to lose weight, have you ever been frustrated with all the dietary rules you had to follow? By eliminating every type of food, complained about how awful the prepackaged meals tasted. Become bored with counting calories for every meal, experiencing unwanted side effects from the weight loss meds, contemplated or undergone bariatric surgery. Have you ever worked with a personal trainer that didn’t provide realistic workouts? I like to ask these questions to my patients because most often they’ve tried more than one way to lose weight, but they were unsuccessful and sometimes they get very discouraged and attempting another way to lose weight. Each type of weight loss program out there dropping pounds quickly or just taking a peel to miraculously see the weight dipping on the scale is usually promised, but almost never delivered. Plus all the rules and restrictions which accompany the program usually leave you feeling deprived and having no quality of life. If you look at my screen, I ask you, have you ever tried one of the weight loss programs or products before? Everything from fat burning supplements to the miracle diet out there, the weight loss industry is a $78 billion industry.
00:05:15 – 00:10:27
Yes, billion with a B and the list is an even complete. I just took the top weight loss categories that are often see people try. So what I’d like you to do in order to get you involved is ask yourself, did any of these weight loss methods successfully keep the weight off, did any of these weight loss methods address why you were gaining weight in the first place? Is your health better today than it was ten years ago? Dig deep and be honest on that one. Do you feel right in your own body? I know. It’s frustrating. Each year and even every other year, sometimes we try to lose weight and feel better. We will experiment with a weight loss program. We read about or seen one of our friends try. And we might get results for the first few weeks and then stop. Nothing happens. We plateau. We feel measurable and we’re just left wondering, why can’t I just start feeling right in my own body? Does this sound like you’ve. Do you suffer from any of the following? Depression, anxiety, diabetes, hypothyroidism, low libido. If you’ve lost that loving feeling, chronic fatigue, poor slate brain fog stress and PMS. You know, that sounds like the beginning of a good country western song. Most of the time I hear from my patients and their frustrated in their journey to losing weight and feeling better, but I often hear them say that I previously been diagnosed or suffer with one of these medical conditions or unwanted symptoms. Have you been diagnosed or suffer from any of these conditions? If you answered yes to any of these ten medical conditions or symptoms, then you most likely have an underlying hormone imbalance or micronutrient deficiency, which is contributing to weight gain and poor health. The top two reasons why most people do not lose weight. Yes, I’m a boil it down to two. The reason they don’t lose weight and keep it off is because of hormonal imbalances and nutrient deficiencies. The analyst weight loss supplements the diets, the medications are out on the market that most people try but usually never address the reason why they’re gaining weight in the first place. There are over 50 hormones in the body, which control hundreds and hundreds of daily metabolic processes at the core of these hormones are chemical messengers that help different glands and organs and the body talk to each other. Each hormone requires specific nutrients without the hormone balance and nutrition, optimization, no matter what you do to lose weight, it must often will not work long term. Specific nutrients and levels are needed to properly feel hormone production, balance and weight loss. Let’s take, for example, you’re trying to lose weight, but you’re hitting a plot to feel like your metabolism is to blame and it’s just sluggish. I’ve heard that so many times. The top hormone from metabolism is your thyroid, but thyroid gland controls so many metabolic functions, but for weight loss, it helps manage the metabolism and the burning of calories. The secret most people don’t know about it is that thyroid gland needs specific nutrients to function and selenium and tyrosine are just a good start and just some of the required no chance that the thyroid needs in order to produce these thyroid hormones. So you see, if you want to boost your metabolism, you need to focus on the thyroid hormones. But you also need adequate level of specific nutrients for the thyroid gland to actually work. The same holds true for appetite. Specific treats are needed to balance leptin hormones, which are the hormones needed to suppress hunger. And for testosterone hormones, zinc and magnesium are just two of many nutrients needed for proper testosterone hormone balance. Testosterone hormone balance is needed for both men and women to help improve lean body, composition. The top ten weight loss hormones because out of the 50 plus hormones in the body that Jan hormones which directly affect our ability to lose weight and keep it off, plus these hormones are also responsible in controlling how we feel each day, anxiety, stress, depression, fatigue, poor sleep, and various other unwanted symptoms are associated with these hormones.
00:10:29 – 00:15:02
There’s leptin, which is for satiety, satisfaction, so if you’re not getting any satisfaction, so to speak, that’s a good song. But it’s leptin. Greenland is the hunger hormone cortisol is the stress hormone. And there’s many things that can cause those stresses, insulin is the blood sugar hormone, estrogen is the belly and hip fat hormone, progesterone is the water retention hormone testosterone, lean, muscle, hormone, DHEA is the helper hormone in the precursor to some of these other ones. The hyrule is metabolism hormone, growth hormone is the muscle growth hormone. So what is each weight loss hormone mean in your overall journey to losing weight and feeling better? I get this question a lot when I talk about the top ten weight loss hormones. Let’s simplify it even further. I took the ten weight loss hormones, a categorized them into four compartments to make them easier to understand. Leptin and Greenland hormones are the yin and Yang for appetite and craving control. If you’ve started any weight loss program or not before, you know one of the first sabotages in failing on the diet is uncontrollable appetite. We must balance our leptin at Greenland hormones in order to set us up for success in losing weight. Fat storage release. This is the next stage for losing weight. It’s just stopping the body from accumulating more fat. You can’t lose fat if you keep gaining it. The stress hormone cortisol and blood sugar hormone insulin are directly responsible for storing more fat in the body, especially around the belly area. The third category and very often overlooked is bad detoxification. Once we stop accumulating fat, we must focus on detoxifying esque excess fat from the body, and this is where the pounds really start coming up. Getting your liver kidney and digestive systems kicked into gear along with deep detoxifying xenoestrogen toxins from the body can not only help with the weight loss, but it’s where we actually start feeling so much better. More energy, better digestion and more. Fat burning. Lastly, we want to turn up the heat and boost our metabolism and preserve lean muscle mass to accelerate the weight loss process and begin tone in the body by avoid DHEA testosterone. Human growth hormones need to be regulated and balanced. The four step process is synergistic to losing weight. The reason why most people do not get the best results on weight loss progress is because they only focus their adverse one area. For example, patients take appetite suppressant medications, they’re only focused on controlling appetite, but they never address the accumulation, the detoxification, or the burning of excess fat, and other examples patients take fat burning supplements. They’re only focusing on metabolism, but yet their appetite is most likely insatiable along with fat storage and fat detoxification impairments. Losing weight is multi factorial, multifaceted in attacking weight loss and mouse and hormones from every possible direction is needed for the best weight loss in feel good results. Appetite control, the first reason why most people stop a weight loss program or die is because of uncontrollable appetite and cravings. When we begin to eliminate addictive foods and drop our daily calorie amounts to fit within a program, our body sends signals of feed me now. We’ve all had those. Withdrawal symptoms of headaches, irritability, or chronic fatigue, also sets in and it makes all that much more difficult. Just given in and eating those cookies or slice of pizza to shut down these cravings is way too easy. There are two hormones and two neurotransmitter brain chemicals I call neurotransmitters the happy hormones.
00:15:04 – 00:20:00
These are associated with appetite and cravings. Greeting hormones tell our body that we’re hungry and leptin hormones tell our body that we’re full. When there’s an unbalanced in these two hormones, it leaves us with an insatiable appetite that we constantly must eat, even if we don’t need to. Now, Sarah Tony and dopamine, the so called happy hormones, their neurotransmitter brain chemicals, their responsible for our cravings, appetite, and cravings are two separate issues. Appetite is where there’s grumbling in our stomach and we just have to eat. Insatiable cravings are when we crave specific foods to make us feel happy. The serotonin and dopamine effect can self sabotage our weight loss efforts. If you’ve ever cried specific foods such as cookies, chocolate, ice cream pizza, or anything else, then you’re most likely to have a serotonin and dopamine imbalance. Serotonin is the so called feel good, Brian chemical, and dopamine is the rewards or pleasure Brian chemical. Now we’re all goals to give our body the necessary nutrients to suppress hunger and shut down the cravings. So we don’t have these insatiable appetites ruining our weight loss efforts. Now there’s quite a few different appetite control nutrients. One of the ones that’s missing in most people’s diet is fiber. And that the benefit of that is leptin and Greenland hormone balance tryptophan for serotonin balance, which is the whole food source for that would be turkey chicken and beef. And that’s why when we eat a lot of turkey at Thanksgiving, we all get tired and sleepy and want a nap because the tryptophan and the turkey has turned to serotonin. Magnesium, that is incredibly important in our neurotransmitter synthesis and for blood sugar regulation. The top foods for that is Spanish tune in avocado. And it goes on and on and on and on. That storage. The next step in hormone, weight loss system is stopping the body from storing more fat. There are two hormones that contribute to fat storage, which is cortisol and insulin. There’s a direct cause and effect on how these hormones pack on the pounds, especially around the belly area. Stress, and this day and age who doesn’t suffer from some type of stress. Stress from finance is stressed from a relationship stress from work, stress from even other health problems, stress from what you hear on the knees. All these different types of stress when they’re compounded on top of one another can lead to chronic stress and elevated cortisol, stress, hormone levels. You see, when we’re suffered, suffering from periods of stress, our body begins to ramp up cortisol hormone production to help calm the body and reduce stress levels. Unfortunately, when we experience prolonged stress, the signal to stop cortisol hormone production never stops. A ramp up in cortisol, hormone production has a direct effect on the body producing more blood sugar glucose which deals the body to deal with more stress. Then another reaction in the body is the need to produce more insulin hormones because of the excessive blood sugar glucose levels. The insulin hormones help usher, the glucose in the cells for energy. However, when we get too much glucose or too much glucose is being produced or consumed, our bodies become insulin resistant and as a result, the excess glucose in the bloodstream gets converted into fat and think triglycerides to be stored for later use. And this can clog up the liver, which causes further malfunction. And then it begins to put these fats around the belly and other areas and store it as that. I’m sorry about the medical explanation about how fat keeps getting stored in the body, but it’s really important that you understand how chronic stress leads to barely fat and weight gain. For example, more stress equals more cortisol hormones, which equals more glucose production, which equals more stored fat. The positive aspect to control and cortisol stress and insulin blood sugar hormone levels is the fact that specific nutrients can actually help balance these hormones. There are many clinically researched nutrients which have shown a benefit in decreasing stress levels and balancing insulin hormone levels. So let’s review just a few of these.
00:20:05 – 00:25:11
By that storage release nutrients. And there are many of them. But let’s just talk about a few. Vitamin C, we can’t produce our own vitamin C so you have to have a dietary source of that, which the benefit is stress reduction, you get more vitamin C from bell pepper, strawberries, and broccoli, for example, probiotics are incredibly important. And they help block blood sugar, absorption, and they help in the detoxification process. You can get that from Apple cider vinegar and good yogurt or I tell my patients just to learn to breathe your own. Vitamin B one, which is imperative for blood sugar metabolism, the main food sources are pork chops, salmon, and black seed. And when you’re low on that, you usually have brain fog. How many of that or how many can relate to that? But detox vacation. Headaches, low energy poor sleep, brain fog constipation, and other unwanted symptoms can be a risk. A direct result of too much toxicity in the body. In the next step, the hormone weight loss system, we really need to focus on eliminating fat toxins from the body, particularly xenoestrogen toxins. These toxins not only increase the plants, but they’re often the culprit to negative symptoms which impact our quality of life. You’ve probably noticed in your skin care shampoo and other self improvement products that they are saying no parabens, no flights, et cetera, et cetera. Even when you go to the grocery store, you may have noticed words on the food packaging of non GMO antibiotic free organic or other similar statements. But yet we have thousands of chemicals which often find our way into our food supply, cosmetics, carpeting, furniture, and other household atoms that are very harmful to your body. These chemicals at a higher level, especially if you can’t detox them, can’t cause an array of symptoms. Astral weight loss and hormone balance and there’s one toxin that we must focus on and that’s called xenoestrogens. Toxins that mimic our natural estrogen hormones can trick our body into storing more fat, the xenoestrogens on a molecular level are very similar to the estrogen hormones, and when they’re abundant in the body, they can tell the body to store more fat. The need to eliminate these xenoestrogens through proper liver, kidney, and digestive detoxification can greatly impact our weight loss efforts. Along with detoxifying these xenoestrogens, it will help bring about estrogen and progesterone hormone balance, which further improve how you feel the result most of the time will be more energy better sleep and improve digestion, glowing skin are the top benefits as well as getting your libido back. The incomes the weight loss and further detoxification of these xenoestrogens. Now for fat detoxification nutrients, there are so many of them. One of my favorites is in acetylcysteine, which the benefit is detoxification, glutathione production. It really helps deliver clean up the body. The top food source is beef pork chops and chicken. Fiber that we talked about before, but one of the major benefits is it binds to toxins. You get more fiber at a, for example, avocado, chia seeds, and broccoli. Folate, which helps with methylation, and that’s one of the many detoxification pathways of the liver. You get greater amounts of folate out of asparagus broccoli and spinach. The next step in losing weight in hormone balancing is fat burning. Many times my patients have started on a weight loss program before. And they plateaued. And that’s where they get discouraged. A number one reason to weight loss plateauing is slow, metabolism, caused by metabolic hormone imbalance. If this has happened to you before, you’re not alone, but more importantly, there is an answer. As we age, there are three metabolism based hormones which dramatically decrease testosterone, DHEA and human growth hormone are the hormones responsible for lame muscle mass and better body composition. Think about it if you wait a 170 pounds when you were 20 years old and a 170 pounds when you’re 50 years old does your body look the same, the answer is probably not.
00:25:11 – 00:30:03
You’ll notice more sagging skin, more fat around the midsection and just a different overall body shape. By focusing just on the number on the scale, you’re not really taking into account the complete weight loss picture. You need to boost testosterone, DHEA, and human growth hormone so that that can help preserve lean muscle mass in the tone and the shape of our bodies and make that better. Plus, having more muscle mass has been shown to boost metabolism rates, the other hormone, which I like to consider, our main metabolism hormone is the thyroid hormone. This hormone as well can become much more dysfunctional as we age, but the thyroid hormone can also become imbalanced for many other reasons. One of the reasons it’s poor dietary habits, then you have genetics autoimmune disorders, and there are various other factors that can stop our thyroid working at optimal levels. When there’s not sufficient thyroid hormone production or poor conversion between the types of thyroid hormones, such as T four to T three, our metabolism begins to slow down. As a result, we’re not burning off the calories in those excess calories in the body turn into fat. Just like the other three steps in hormone light loss system, there is good news on how specific nutrients can boost metabolism and balance the fat burning hormones. Some of the fat burning nutrients are iodine. The benefit is thyroid hormone production. Top health food source is cod shrimp and seaweed. Magnesium, tea, forward to T three conversion. You get that mostly, out of spinach, tuna, and avocado. Omega threes are incredibly important because they’re anti inflammatory. Some of the top food sources are salmon chia seeds and pumpkin seeds. And then carnitine, which helps improve lean muscle mass and the top halted sources beef, pork, and cod. Are you consuming the right no chance in the right delivery form at the right dosage to balance the right hormones? If not, then you may be suffering from a macro nutrient deficiency, which is causing a hormone imbalance and unwanted weight gain. When I work with my patients on losing weight and bouncing hormones are immediately start thinking of which nutrient deficient deficiencies can maybe suffer from that are contributing to the hormone imbalances and then lastly, weight gain. My focus and more upstream on the problem you can get to the root cause of the issue. So for weight loss, we need to have adequate levels of nutrients which help balance hormones and then lastly, weight loss becomes easier. So let’s look at this in a more visual way. Losing weight and feeling better comes down to an easy system. No more fab based dots with severe restrictions or taking endless amounts of supplements which don’t address the underlying hormone in nutrient issues to conquer weight loss and feel better. We need to focus more upstream on the calls of the problem. Step one, micronutrient optimization specific vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids that are imperative for the body to have in order to use to get healthy and shed those unwanted pounds. You can’t increase metabolism if you have a sluggish style weight and you can improve thyroid health unless you have the right amounts of iodine, selenium, tyrosine, and several other nutrients in the body. And I’m not just talking adequate, where you go to the store and take a 100% of the recommended RDA of a nutrient. This is the bare minimum amount needed not to have a nutrient based disease. These levels are far too low for nutrition, optimization in the body. For example, the RDA for vitamin D is about 600 I use a day. Most clinically, when most clinical studies show that 2004 thousand or even 10,000 a day is the amount needed to have true health benefit. We must have optimized levels of nutrients in the bodies. So our hormones become balanced. Step two is the hormone balance itself. At least theta body, the right foods with nutrient dense ingredients.
00:30:04 – 00:35:10
Then we can begin the journey to nutrition optimization. However, just eating the right foods is not always going to get us across the dough and unfortunately. The amount found the mouths of nutrients found in our page today are a lot lower than what they were 50 years ago. How we grow the foods, how we fertilize the foods, and even how we cook them, all take away from the nutrient benefits, the need to induce specific nutritional supplements that are daily lives, it’s needed to truly optimize the level of nutrients. By combining both food and supplemental sources of specific nutrients, then we can naturally restore hormone balance. Then step three is weight loss. By focusing on nutrition, optimization in the body, we can begin to balance the hormones. And once we balance the hormones, we can start the process of effortlessly losing weight. Yes, you heard me, Brad, effortlessly. And another added benefit to nutrition optimization in hormone balance is feeling better. Who doesn’t want to feel better and lose ten, 20, or even 50 pounds, and the bonus of having more energy, better sleep, improved digestion, health, and in most cases you just feel better mentally. You lose that stress anxiety and depression. So how do you start balancing your hormones and lose some weight? We just discussed how specific nutrient deficiencies and hormone imbalances can lead to insatiable appetites, fat accumulation, slow metabolism, which all impact weight gain or weight loss, the next step we have to ask ourselves is what are we going to do about it? Just knowing what could be causing the problem is one thing, but taking action steps to eliminate the problem is the next thing we must do to take back control of our bodies. In just three easy steps, you’ll have everything you need in balancing hormones and losing weight. I took the guesswork out of what to eat and do every day in my complete hormone weight loss system. For nutritional supplement perspective, personally designed a synergistic protocol, a specific nutrients which target the top weight loss hormones and possible nutrient deficiencies that could cause these hormone imbalances. And then from what 8 I created a hormone weight loss dietary plan which focuses on all the foods you can eat rather than what you can’t. I’ve identified the clinically researched nutrients that promote hormone balance and weight loss, then I discovered the top whole food sources of these foods and designed meal plants and grocery lists which infuses these foods and nutrients into 30 minutes or less a recipe. And that’s really good to save that time. It takes off a lot of stress. We hope you’ve enjoyed listening to doctor Lewis hormone weight loss nutrition system, audiobook. And because of this book, we’ve added in a couple of nude lab panels. One is a men’s hormone weight loss panel and the other is a women’s hormone weight loss panel. It is specific to this book. And for a limited time, we are offering a $150 off of the program. So that program would include the 60 plus biomarker lab test, a 15 page functional health lab report, a nutrition interpretation of lab results, and of course doctor Lewis consultation with supplement recommendations, just like he’s always giving you, but it is just on these two lab panels and these are lab panels you’ve never had in the past. 00:00:01 – 00:05:03
Welcome to the green wisdom health podcast, with Doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis, where you will learn about natural solutions to common ailments. And now, here are your hosts doctor Stephen and Janet Lewis. Hello and welcome to the green wisdom health show. I’m Janet Lewis. And I’m doctor Lewis. And today we are going to discuss heavy metal toxicity. The name of this show is called symptoms of heavy metal toxicity. Doctor Lewis, can you tell us why you felt the need to discuss heavy metals? He’s thinking about why he’s discussing heavy metals. It goes back to the 70s in the music, but no, not really. Well, you know, I’ve talked about being toxic off and on for many, many years, even before we got into this. And I noticed that as I tried to fix people’s joint pain, nerve pain, musculoskeletal pain, that if I would put people on something that could displace toxins, heavy metals and others, that their pain would get much, much better. Much more quickly, they could achieve or we could achieve the goals with fewer adjustments and less time. So I think we should always be taking up new trends to help our bodies detox, not just metals, but other things. And the side effect of being cleaner is deep sleep. You know, most of us don’t get the deep restorative sleep, which not having good sleep actually helps induce leaky gut, which we’ve talked about. And that can lead to insulin resistance. So when we talk insulin resistance, we’re talking about pre diabetic or diabetic. And it can lack of the sleep can lead to actually autoimmune disorders. We’re seeing more and more autoimmune disorders and people say, well, what’s chiropractor doing? Talking about, oh, no immune disorders. Well, guess what? That has a lot to do with osteoarthritis, which I’ve already gotten most of that podcast written for the future about how osteoarthritis can be helped with nutrients as well as the chiropractic adjustments. But to get deep restorative sleep puts you in a better position to detox and heavy metal is a big part of that. You know, I think a lot of people out there don’t really realize they’re even exposed to heavy metals and they’re probably thinking, well, I’m not around any of that. So, I’m not really sure how it pertains to me, but there’s good metals like zinc and copper and iron that are beneficial for your health, but there’s also some very toxic ones like cadmium, arsenic, chromium, lead mercury, you know, and people are like. Yeah, and where do you get those bad ones from? Is everyone exposed to one or more of those? Absolutely. And people say, I’m not exposed to that. It’s like, yeah, you are, you just don’t know it. I mean, if you walked into a newly sprayed build and has had pesticides in it, or even new building materials or the outgassing of carpets and those are not necessarily metals, but they can be seen in styrene and Styrofoam cups. There’re so many toxins in the world. If you’re not exposed to it, one of the polar bears have thyroid problems in osteoporosis. We don’t spray anything up there. And we’ll probably go over a list today. And I’ve always said, please don’t try to diagnose yourself at all, but if you don’t diagnose yourself off this list because of these lists, we may say, well, this is hypothyroidism. Well, it could also be leaky good. It can be chronic fatigue, syndrome. And you know, I had a kid one-time, young man who was not very developed, and you could tell he had some problems. And he brought me a book and says, here, what do you think about it? And it was only focused on mercury. Well, mercury is a bad thing. And if you’re drinking or eating anything with high fructose corn syrup, you are getting mercury. It’s that bad. High fructose corn syrup. And it’s not just people say, but I don’t drink soft drinks. Well, it’s in your ketchup and barbecue sauce. Check the ingredients. But it’s got too much mercury in it. So, I told this guy a young man. I said, yeah, taken out the mercury is a good thing. And I read the book. It was a pretty good book, but I said, the problem is there’s so many chemicals in our environment. And there’s about 5 new ones each day that join the 80 to 85,000 in that includes anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics and that can have a very negative effect on the health of your intestinal flora.
00:05:04 – 00:10:20
So when we talk about detox, I try to skim over it because Janet says sometimes I get too technical. They’re smarter people than me, but I’m really good practitioner. So we talk about liver methylation sulfation, acetylation, there’s a lot of different liver detox pathways. We don’t talk about the P450 cytochrome pathway very much, but you have to have extra nutrients in order to allow your body to kick that in gear because you do not get enough nutrients inside of your food. It’s impossible. You can not do it. So 80 to 85,000 different toxins in our environment in many of those are metals. Well, and then to make it in little simpler form for some of us that don’t understand all the scientific words like myself, there are some common symptoms that you could experience if your body is high and toxic metals. One of them is headaches. Abdominal pain, especially the headaches in the morning. Oh, really? Why the morning? Because that’s when the body is geared to dump. Especially in bladder. And most of us are behind. That’s why Janice is famous for her. Well, if you’ve got three trains going into a tunnel, have any trains should come out. That means if you’re eating three meals, you need to have two or three baobabs per day. That makes sense because that’s 5 to 7 in the morning. Chinese body clock. Yeah, that’s the meridian. And the thing about it is it’s complicated and I’m not being glib when I tell people we’ve made an intelligent educated decision about what you should take when you should take it. But then you need to throw it in and let God sort it out because one of the things that’s killing us faster than anything is the stress over trying to do it perfectly or the stress over trying to do it halfway. So will make a good decision and I tell my patients use your discerning spirit or your intuition. And then follow up and never lose your faith. Some more symptoms of toxic toxicity in your body from heavy metals is nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, chills, and a general feeling of weakness. One of the complaints that I’ve heard just a few times, well, I got on your supplements, and I had diarrhea, or I had a loose stools, and I said, well, you know, we can slow it down, but can you realize that that’s your body trying it has the nutritional aspect to increase detoxification that your body tried to detox? Now, we can slow it down and make it comfortable. That’s very important. But for God’s sight, don’t quit. That’s a good thing. People say, but I’m not comfortable taking this this, this. I said, well, you know, throwing up makes me sick. I mean, I’m ugly. UGLY I’m ugly when I throw up. But I know that’s a good thing because my body’s getting rid of toxins. Yeah, that is something that a lot of our clients say is like, well, this made me uncomfortable. I’m having a little more diarrhea it smells bad. I’m not used to going to the bathroom this much. It is very common that our supplements will start dragging out toxic things. You have to think about if it’s not coming out and it’s just sitting there and then you don’t do anything with it for years. What does what does that lead to down the road? We had a lady I don’t know if his early this week late last week. My urine stinks to high heaven. And she was kind of embarrassing that. And slime well, that’s a good thing. Here’s the thing. People signed by my son. I heard this. My son has acne. I said, well, he’s not pooping enough. Well, he poops once or twice a week. I said, well, the primary channels of elimination is the colon and through the bladder, urinary tract and Cullen. And if you’re not getting an out fast enough, it’s going to try to come out through the skin. That’s a secondary path of elimination. It’s true. And more severe and chronic cases of heavy metal poisoning include burning and tingling sensations, brain fog, insomnia, paralysis, and chronic infections, and that seems to be we’re hearing more and more people telling us they’re having the burning and tingling sensation and a lot of brain fog. So possibly it’s heavy metal issues that need to have need to be dealt with. So I guess if you have this in your body, is there a way to pull these things out? Do you have certain supplements that pull those type things out? Doctor Lewis? We talked the other day when I think it was Casey that was here that there are definitely some things that you can take.
00:10:21 – 00:15:04
The environmental detox is very, very popular with our people. It’s got the Z a lot clay, the activated charcoal, shallow sheet, which is fully fulvic acid in humic acid. It’s a really incredible product. That works really, really well. And I tell people, then you need to go through the Malta minerals, but you want to do it at a different time because you want to make sure that the activated charcoal and zealots not getting the good minerals. I’m a big fan of our active mega multi and it’s got some good minerals in it. But just as a matter of real estate, so to speak, the amount of room that it takes, it’s good to take not just the multi vitamin, but the multi minerals also ours has calcium magnesium zinc, selenium, manganese, chromium, potassium, sulfate, which is great for blood sugar and insulin resistance. And in boron, folks, if you don’t get it up on, you can’t have strong bones, especially if you’re a woman. Man, if you don’t have enough boron, which is almost impossible to get out of your diet, you can’t build testosterone. They perked up when they heard testosterone. So the minerals are a really, really good thing. It’s a smart thing, but it helps to bind with these heavy metals. And I said manganese. Well, manganese, it depends on the form. You know, I’ve talked about research where a welders that were exposed to the fumes had higher levels of manganese and in higher neurodegenerative effects. Abnormal effects on the nervous system. But it’s the wrong form of manganese. So you have to be careful. And I’ve talked about this over and over again. I’m going to keep doing it when it says tracks, TRA, CS, which are in every time that it’s possible that stands for the real amino acid chelate system. And you get up to 20 times more absorbable. One of my favorite ones is our reduced glutathione. And doctor Lewis can tell you exactly why it works, but I know that it helps immune system also by detoxifying and gives energy. So that one is really good. It’s quick. I know that if you do too much of it and you don’t do something about it, it can build up and not come out well. I mean, I know that. It’s like you can overdo glutathione as well, right? Well, you have to make sure you’re drinking a lot of water. The water is the universal solvent. They taught me that in chemistry a million years ago. Alcohol is a solution, but waters the universal solvent so don’t think vodka is the other clear drink. It’s water, water, water, and it needs to be filtered. Reverse osmosis is my preference. But so you have to make sure that when you’re giving your body the nutrition for it to crank up the mitochondria or the energy producers, so that it binds these toxins or conjugates them that happens in the liver, that’s why I always pay attention to liver for those of you that are patients. You’ve got to make sure that it’s going through. So if you have thick bile, then I will recommend terrain because that thins the bowel and if you thin it, then it goes through your fatty liver, which many of us have. Because of decades of too much high fructose corn syrup and mercury. When it ends the body goes through the liver through the gallbladder and squishes out into the small intestine. More readily, so it detoxes a lot faster, but you have to have a massive amount of good probiotics in the small intestine because the probiotics actually affect. In a good way. When the microbiome of the small intestine and that has to do with conjugating and keeping these conjugated harmful products from unconjugated and becoming toxic and be in reabsorbed, so that’s why good bowel movements and fiber is super, super important because this glutathione, some people call it the master, antioxidant. I think we’ll get in trouble for this, but I think sometimes Janet has a tendency too.

Oh yeah, she’s looking at me. Waiting to see what I’ve done now. Wait to see what kind of trouble I’m creating for myself. But I think sometimes she overdoses on things she gets really excited. She was taken, I said, you know, you’re 5, 430 pounds. And she says, Steven, I’m not that fat. Okay, well, I think three glutathione might be a bit much, honey. Please, I’m sorry for whatever I did. But glutathione is incredible for detoxification. And as you detoxify, you increase your immune system health. Immune activation and as you do that, you’re less prone to have the autoimmune diseases that we see develop more and more and more. That really does help brain fog though. I can tell you that the reduced glutathione really helps quickly to reduce the brain fog. Yeah, and to tie this together because many of you that are listening are already patients. I tell people, well, if you have brain fog, it’s usually because you have too much candy. They create something called foundation, steel, or have you had the inability to utilize thymine that you don’t get enough of anyway. So that goes back to if you have all these things going on and bad metals are famous for adversely affecting the microbiome. And that’s why I candida can go into overgrowth and that’s why you have to promote the use of and the growth of good probiotics and you have to be consistent with it because even glyphosate that people say on glyphosate is not bad for you. We got most Vietnam veterans or dead because of H and orange, look up glyphosate and H and orange and compare the two. It changes the glyphosate in our foods. Changes the microbiome, which lets the candida go ballistic, which steals your thumb in, which causes brain fog and brain fog can be just from, oh my God, I got too much aluminum. You get aluminum because we’re consuming it out of our canned goods. These fast foods hang on. I have a sneeze. I thought he was going to whisper two weeks. Most of these pre package that I’m trying to sneeze. That’s another avenue of detoxification. But most of our foods that we buy better prepackaged are cooked in huge aluminum vats. Think about that for a minute. Mercury, I had two different dentists that would get the amalgam mercury fillings, mercury amalgam fillings, out of teeth, and both on us bat crazy. But I felt better. Now, what’s that all in my head or was it because I got more mercury out of my system. Now, one of them just took it out, drilled it out, and of course you’re inhaling those vapors and I got 6, 6, 6, and my liver enzymes went crazy high. The other dentist was much more meticulous. She loves that word, and she’s an incredible person, perfectionist, meticulous dentist. She used the rubber dam and got the rest of my amalgam fillings out. And I didn’t get sick at all. So I got the mercury out. Now, whether it’s in my head or real, I don’t know, but I felt better. And my headaches went way, way down in frequency, Janet mentioned, headaches, and my blood pressure went way down. Well, and you get a lot of the mercury two out of the different kinds of fish that you eat. I know like the larger fish like swordfish, king mackerel, tuna, Marlin, are all bigger carriers of mercury. Because I have more time to bow accumulate as they’re eating the little fish, and it just accumulates in the body. And I kind of like tuna, but we make sure we buy the young. Smaller tuna. The young tuna? Yeah. We do. I don’t know. I never looked at, I guess, I always let you pick that out. So I guess we’re buying baby tuna. I don’t know. Maybe tuna. I know on salmon that little fat. That Brown thing at the bottom, I used to think you were supposed to eat that. And the first time I was even, I first started dating, he goes, what do you eat in that? And I said, it was part of the same and he goes, that’s where all the metals are stored all the toxins. And I was like, oh my God. Now I can’t stand it. It’s that little colored brown strip. And I don’t know why these chefs don’t scoop it out with a spoon, but I cut it out. You’re going to help yourself.
00:20:01 – 00:25:06
If you just do that much and you know I like research polluted air causes high blood pressure and in the polluted air are many, many of these heavy metals. And even the American journal of public health says that polluted air racist blood pressure, there’s actually a lot of studies done on even low doses of heavy metals and how they disrupt the structure and the function of platelets. And platelets are about clotting. It helps plaque occur much more likely. And that’s not a good thing. That’s from journal of environmental pathology, toxicology and oncology. So even low doses and we get the mercury, we get from high fructose corn syrup from big fish, we get a lot of aluminum from processed foods. And arsenic is actually in high levels of it are in rice. You know, it really is. And I do more rice now because I found out how horrible gluten treats me, but I still try to reduce it somewhat. Arsenic is bioaccumulated in the Ross fields. And then your cosmetics and body care products are, they have numerous heavy metals like lead, cadmium, and aluminum, you know, you always hear about that in the deodorants. That you’re putting aluminum right in a soft tissue of your arm. And he’s going right into your body. So we always try to use something different. We use pretty pretty Frank deodorant. We get it our local natural health food store here. You just need to try to avoid as much of the chemical stuff that you’re putting on the outside of your body. It was soaps and all of that kind of stuff because that’s just toxins you’re trying to get rid of. And there’s some people that would tell you that the aluminum has a lot to do with breast cancer. I’m not going to say that’s true, but I’ve read things that had a pretty good case to that effect. Because it’ll be absorbed and not be pushed through the lymphatic system. And I see people cooking with aluminum pans still, and I’m thinking, are they still really around? Because I remember my grandmother used to have aluminum pans. Lord only knows what they got. Got from that. Yeah, the Teflon pans. That’s another one because they’re full of a bunch of chemicals also, and then you look at the pan later and there’s like pieces of the pan miss. And so you’ve not only got some of that. You also, you also ate it. And people are like, well, how’s she supposed to keep things from sticking to your pans without those? Oh, lord, you stainless steel. Or glass. Yeah, and then there’s also foods that can help you detoxify naturally like cilantro. We have a lot of cilantro in Texas. We like it. And it’s really good. And that’s because the Hispanic influence. And Janet mentioned cadmium. Well, we have cadmium batteries, welders, fabricated metal products, those people have about four times the increased incident of prostate cancer compared to the average gap. And that’s because of the cadmium, which also you get if you smoke. Who are these people? What people? People that fabricate metal products and welders. They smelled the inhaled all of that for all that time. Yeah, four times the incident. And that means that welders, people at fabricate, need to tighten more the heavy metals are then borrowed detox, the multi minerals, the glutathione, really is they say the master antioxidant. And folks, it’s prostate. Only one R people say prostrate is like no, no, no. That’s a whole different word. I’m sorry. You’re not supposed to correct people. And the bug exterminator people are full of them also. I know that. Yeah, and they have more but Tennessee toward neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s and different types of dementia. And a spraying the inside of our House with those things also. Yeah, which we pretty generally don’t happen except she saw roach this morning. It’s like holy gs, if we do have them spray with chemicals, we take the dog and go along trip and then we have some air cleaners and then we have a holistic, more natural, cleaning products that are made uses. So some of the things that happen because of these excess metals and again, we’re talking about 80 something thousand different toxins, which is not just metals, but that creates what you think is a disease of aging.
00:25:06 – 00:30:00
It’s not really a disease of aging. It’s a disease of accumulation. So I use things like cilantro, garlic, lemon water, drink green tea, all of those things are really good at detoxifying heavy metals and doctor Lisa, I also know we got several things happening here, but we’ve had some people ask about our new programs. We just we just got it put on our website. There are 30 day programs, I guess you can explain what you decided. Do you want the reason you added these in? We’ve got four of them. One for white loss. There’s one for energy. There’s one for hormones. And there’s one for thyroid. And can you explain why you decided that maybe people needed help and added these programs to our to our site? Yeah, because those of you that have used our services and thank God, literally, I have so many people that continually do this. You know, like Richard and Rebecca and California like Alan from Maine, I could go on and on talking about people that do that. But some people say, well, what should I eat? What should I not eat? It’s like, you know, I’m like read a book. A lot of them want to know if we have a dietician. I’m incredibly busy. And I’m glad because there are people that are getting well. So instead of telling you all to read a book, we have created an integrative nutrition concierge team. That’s the technical term. So you don’t have to read a book. That’s it for you. Yeah, yeah. These people that we’ve employed teamed up with, what it is, a functional medicine registered dietitian and a certified nutrition coach and we have ways that you can take pictures of your food and own this app. It saves you time, and it’s not really so much a diet, but it’s a way of eating that will have more than nutrients that will support, for example, weight loss or energy or hormone thyroid, whichever one you choose. We have a few supplements to go with that to get you going because there’s some people say, well, I don’t want to take 8 or ten or 12 different nutritional supplements like the smart ones, the ones that get the best results are the ones that do this program and take even more nutritional supplements. And that way well, it helps you shop for the right foods. It’s cost effective way to eat. Because a lot of the people when we do their labs, they’re trying to eat right. They’re trying to do the right things, and they honestly don’t know which things are not good for their particular issue. Or hormones, and these nutrient plans are based on you getting those particular issues under control. So it’s not really such a diet, but it’s nutrient dense eating. And it makes it easier, the meal plans, the recipes, they’re all quick, easy, and inexpensive. You get weekly calls with the coaches, you get in app messaging any time that you take pictures of your food, they help you figure out well, why did I not feel good that day or maybe you’ve got a big party or something coming up and you’re trying to do the right things, but you don’t know what it is you can eat there to help you and the people that are overseeing this. Right. Yeah, that’s why I would say that people had already doing our programs. There’s couples out there that do our programs together. If you’re having the same issues, you could literally get one program and both of you learn how to eat differently and have recipes and that kind of thing. You don’t do it forever. It’s 30 days. You learn how to change your habits. And then you can go forward with that and do the right kinds of food and things. And it’ll help you get better with the nutrition that we’re doing on this side. Even faster and with each of these programs we have some complementary products that come in the packages that are different for each of the programs. But you can go on green wisdom, health dot com, there’s a tab there that says 30-day programs you can read about it. They’re pretty outstanding. We’re pretty impressed with all the people we’ve employed, and it takes a lot to impress me. I promise you; we’ve had many, many, many people try to team with us, and I’m like, nah, isn’t going to happen. You’re getting a whole lot of value for what it cost.
00:30:00 – 00:33:43
Is that I guess that’s a good way to put it. That’s a better way than I was going to say. I was going to say I’m blown away with what they can add to your life and your health and your energy and your thyroid function, et cetera, et cetera. Yeah, and we literally have some patients that are due for lab work again. And we’re telling them, hey, we really think this 30-day program might behoove you to do that. Before you do lab, because you can see tendencies that the people don’t really know what to eat or what to purchase and we don’t want you to keep making the same wrong choices and then having to buy more products all the time, we’d like you to learn how to change that. So that’s what all this is about. And gosh, we’ve come to the end of our show, doctor Lewis. I can’t believe it. So along with not being toxic from heavy metals anymore and getting a new lease on life here with eating. Is there any final words that you’d like to leave for us this week? Well, you know, one thing I’d like to say is that we’re doing our best to get back to doing more podcast. Got him a new heart valve and ready to roll. So, we hopefully get back on schedule with some of that. And his sergeants at Baylor Scott and white. And I love the medical profession. I always have, but they said, you know, we don’t understand why this win as quickly and as smoothly. On an 85-year-old man, he’s 85 going on 60. But we know for a fact, it’s because genetic keeps him jacked up on some really good supplements all the time. Folks, yeah, two more things. Number one, I can see things coming months. Sometimes years before they happen, there is, and there’s been plenty of people that stocked up because of the supply chain issues and it turned out to be a really wide choice on your part. Here’s the other thing. We talked briefly about autoimmune diseases. Folks, it’s really, really time to get serious with your health.
